Accel World[edit]

Now, please wait a moment. If I understand this correctly, you want to translate AW Vol 5 from Chinese, right? Did you talk to Xplorer30 first? He's the head of the project, so it's usually a good idea to run by him if you want to start translating for Accel World. I suggest you contact him first before you start on any of the volumes.

Also, I don't mean to be impolite or disrespectful, but please understand that I intend to translate Vol 5, from beginning to end. I know that I've delayed it a bit because of my work for SAO, but that will be finished before the end of February, at which time I will start working on Vol 5 in earnest. And no, I won't want to divide translating it, as it is a general rule on baka-tsuki to avoid having two or more translators on a single volume when possible, because there will always differences in how it is translated. (And since you're translating from Chinese and I'm translating from Japanese, the discrepancies will be even more pronounced.) Usually, that is only done when there is a lack of translators in a project or a translator suddenly quits; however, even if the progress is slow right now, volume 5 and several of the other volumes do have translators working on them, so you should try to look at volumes that haven't been claimed yet.

Please understand that I have no intention of putting you down; I think having more translators on Accel World is great, and I'm happy to see your initiative in this. Still, Vol 5 is something that I decided I would do a long time ago, and I would like that to be respected. --Eternal Dreamer (talk) 07:42, 7 February 2013 (CST)

Glad I could be of help. And I'd be happy to read your own translation of Vol 5 too, though I'll probably have to wait until after I start on my own translation before looking at it. (Accusations of stealing other people's translations from their private blogs can get pretty heated and dangerous on baka-tsuki, so it's an issue that I always to try step around lightly.) Anyway, I wish you luck on your translations for the Accel World project from now on. --Eternal Dreamer (talk) 08:05, 7 February 2013 (CST)

Yes, Accel World volume 11 is open, so go for it. Xplorer30 - Talk 21:42, 7 February 2013 (CST)

Usually translators themself add or edit the Translator list section. It's so other people won't mess it up when they don't know what's going on. Add yourself to the Accel World:Registration Page too, for which chapter you are working on. Xplorer30 - Talk 18:18, 8 February 2013 (CST)

KD: What do you want to know?.

Hi there! Glad to see a new fellow translator. 歡迎光臨~ Breakdown16 (talk) 18:28, 16 February 2013 (CST)

Thanks! Try not to let life bog down your translation progress; must be hard working two jobs at the same time (read your blog post about real life issues). Breakdown16 (talk) 13:30, 22 February 2013 (CST)

Xplorer30 set the precedent with "Master" (see the AW thread, page 33), so I went with that. PS: I check the forum more often than my user talk page. Breakdown16 (talk) 06:10, 25 February 2013 (CST)

I am currently translating v6 chap 3. If you want to translate it, you can post it on animesuki or something. Since your part translation will mess up v6 itself. Xplorer30 - Talk 18:49, 27 February 2013 (CST)

Forgot your other question, but I only use Japanese raw for translating. I have trouble with hard kanji even with that. Xplorer30 - Talk 19:13, 27 February 2013 (CST)

If you want to redo something when you have the whole volume 11 to take care of, it's your choice. Xplorer30 - Talk 20:42, 27 February 2013 (CST)

Yeah IA! Need to find more IA covers since really I've only found 六兆年と一夜物語 so far.

Know less about what, precisely? I'm not a diehard otaku myself, ha ha.

Just curious, still translating by hand? If so, doesn't that take up an enormous amount of time, especially when you have to input your translations into a word processor or whatever?

Still planning to do v12? After I'm done with volume 8 and the side story, I'll either take a break or go to v9, v12, or v13.

I've noticed you often pick up on updates around here quickly, like when new chapters are posted - how do you do that? Surely you don't check here 24/7, ha ha. Sorry about not liking fan fictions, just not my thing I guess. I've noticed you really like reading and writing. Breakdown16 (talk) 09:10, 30 March 2013 (CDT)

Nah, trust me, I'm not very informed about anime/music/related stuff in general. I found (read: stalked) your YT channel and can safely say you have a lot more exposure to Vocaloid than I do at least. Haven't been following much of the new stuff in subculture.

I fairly liked アカツキノハナ and Falling Apart. The instrumentals also drew me in for both, though obviously in different ways. The mixing for IA's voice was also pretty realistic. While the melodies weren't astoundingly unique or anything, they fit well. (Granted, it's hard to be original with vocals.) Didn't like Aviator in the Soul as much though; the instrumentals were too harsh for me and I didn't like the vocals either. I would comment about lyrics for the three songs as well, but I don't know what to say. And I never imagined IA with pink hair, ha ha.

I guess I'll steer clear of v12 for the moment then. Translating really is a lot of work - sometimes I feel like I'd rather just read than translate. Having a backlog is never a good feeling...Breakdown16 (talk) 10:00, 30 March 2013 (CDT)

I guess it's ok to add the side stories. Make a heading for it in the main page too near bottom of volumes. Xplorer30 - Talk 18:45, 7 April 2013 (CDT)

Yeah I just read it. Interesting personal history. I really didn't know anything about the Singaporean education system (I still don't) till I read your bio. I should probably add a few things to mine about who I actually am in real life. I bet you're putting down your language ability more than you should be - being able to translate AW probably indicates at least intermediate ability. And don't worry about stealing the limelight, ha ha. I'm sure anyone would be pleased for more AW than less. Hope you can find a way to continue translating in the army. Hi, so I guess I will be helping the unbreakable sky with vol 11. Hope that it won't pose any problem to anyone here. Superior Superboy (talk)
