FWIW, I was as nearly as slow in the beginning. It took me two weeks, and tons of embarrassment, to render my first page for Baka-Tsuki, near the end of December, 2009. Along the way, I had the misfortune of innocently asking a Japanese housewife just what 「ブルマ」 was. The answer: bloomers. I met her at church many years ago, long before I started studying Japanese seriously. She and her family moved away, but when I had questions regarding translation I remembered her, dug up their new phone number and gave her a call. In any case, she is not your average Japanese housewife.
