why I-U ?[edit]

can you tell me the reason you change EU to I-U? EU is the official organization name, why do you change it? Depending on your answer I can revert all your edits

Well, technically I-U is more accurate because the name of the organisation is actually derived from from the designation prefix of Imperial Japanese Navy submarines ("I") and Kriegsmarine submarines ("U"). I believe the translators used EU because phonetically, the Japanese "I" sounds like the English "E". The translators appear to have no objections over the change, and besides, in the anime adaptation subbed by Funimation, the term "I-U" is used as well. --Glacierfairy 09:43, 15 June 2011 (UCT)

There is a reason why it was EU and not I-U, just check up this link for example http://hidannoaria.wikia.com/wiki/EU Read up and think about why is it "EU", do not change history or plot with your sudden amazing linguistics research based on anime. --Krytyk 10:50, 15 June 2011 (UCT)

It is not a sudden amazing linguistic research. The linguistic evidence is but secondary. Take a look at this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Japanese_Navy_submarines and see if you can find any designations that use the "E-" prefix. Or if you can read Japanese try this: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E5%A4%A7%E6%97%A5%E6%9C%AC%E5%B8%9D%E5%9B%BD%E6%B5%B7%E8%BB%8D%E8%89%A6%E8%89%87%E4%B8%80%E8%A6%A7#.E6.BD.9C.E6.B0.B4.E8.89.A6.

I must admit changing now is rather a stretch and if you are still not convinced, I'll change it back personally, because what I'm doing is merely an attempt to portray fictional events that are based on actual things more accurately.--Glacierfairy 10:59, 15 June 2011 (UCT)

Wait up, i researched these as well and i've gotta say you are right, leave it be for now, let's see how the discussion revolves, tho i gues IU would be better instead of I-U.--Krytyk 11:00, 15 June 2011 (UCT)

Ack, I've changed Volumes 1-3 already and am in the process in Volume 4. I'll not touch Volume 5 onwards then. As for whether it's better to be IU or I-U, I really don't know, so I guess it is up to the consensus.--Glacierfairy 11:07, 15 June 2011 (UCT)

Don't ever be hasty to submit to someone else, and defend your stance, even i was the wrong one this time. :p. Let's leave the discussion hangin --Krytyk 12:11, 15 June 2011 (UCT)

I'll proceed to change the rest of the volumes then, seeing that there are no objections. --Glacierfairy 20:36, 15 June 2011 (UCT)

I think that the Bhinese version saw that up, and it uses something like 伊.U. insteadof EU. Just wanted to point this out. Kira 22:00, 15 June 2011 (UCT)
