Mushoku Tensei Editing[edit]

Dear C0debreaker6,

Please refrain from large scale editing without registration on to the Editorial Staff for Mushoku Tensei and without consultation from the registered Translator (who is currently is zmunjali.) that will change the contents of whole paragraphs and word interpretations.

You are however welcomed to help edit the grammar, sentence by sentence gradually.

Regards,

There are some proposed changes to the naming in Mushoky Tensai terminalogy page. please have a look over them before they are finalised and changed or offer any suggestion. Pumkingboyz (talk) 06:48, 22 July 2014 (CDT)

I want to change Zenith as Janis. Silent Wolfie and in my previous edits, I already named her as Janis.

I also want to change Norn as Norun. It's much better to hear as Norun. I already changed it as Norun in my previous edits.

That's all I want to revise.

Janis will be Zenith due to the name being a reference to Dragon quest, You can keep it as janis for now and someone can change it laterPumkingboyz (talk) 08:29, 22 July 2014 (CDT)

I see.... then I'll change her in my edits as Zenith. Didn't think that it's referred in Dragon Quest.

I'll change it in my next edits.

I think it'd be best to use Norn. When Japanese see ノルン, they're going to automatically think 'the goddess Norn', you know. That's exactly how they write it. The point of a translation is to best convey the intent of the author in a different language. If you don't believe, go google ノルン and you'll see everything is 'Norn', from the goddess, to Norn9, to a tourist-skiing website (http://www.norn.co.jp/camp/) Vanant (talk) 04:07, 24 July 2014 (CDT)

Hey, could you explain to me why you prefer Shishou over Master? I used Master because it gives the same implications as 'shishou' does to Japanese; first that they're your teacher, second that they're highly skilled, and third that you have some form of allegiance to them. Also I know that you didn't mean it this way, but please say "replacing master with shishou". Saying "correcting" kind of implies that I've done an incorrect translation or something.

EDIT: Additional information - When I translate titles and the like, if there isn't a direct translation that gives the same implications (i.e. upperclassman =/= a senpai relationship. Or more like, this is beyond just schools as well, and goes into the workplace) I'll leave it as the original Japanese. However, if there's an English equivalent that doesn't leave out anything, it's my preference to use it.

e.g. translating danchou (group leader) to grand master, simply because there's no further meaning except that he's the leader of the knight order.

If it's not an issue about naming (e.g. conforming to current guidelines), but is instead an issue with my translation, please do consult me first. I haven't changed it back or anything, but depending on your asnwer I might. Vanant (talk) 04:03, 24 July 2014 (CDT)

Just to throw this out as well if you've been changing shishou to master, I'd suggest avoiding it volume 7+, it might get mixed up with how Juli uses the Engrish word Master and Grandmaster to refer to Zanoba & Rudeus later, while Zanoba refers to Rudeus with the Japanese shishou same as Rudeus refers to Roxy. I don't think Zanoba wants you assuming he is Juli's Master (shishou) even though he is her Master. And you don't want to make Zanoba angry... --Dark Kaito (talk) 04:15, 24 July 2014 (CDT)

Vanant I'm sorry. I used a wrong word. Should've made it replacing instead of 'correcting'. If I offended you I apologize.

Dark Kaito I see. Before I done my edits, I first read the entire chapter then correct errors if I ever see one. I'll conform with the guidelines in the naming issues.

Anyway, thanks for the reminders.

Nevermind! Thanks for the heads up, Kaito! I'll make sure to use shishou from now on. To be honest it's easier for me anyway ahahah. @C0debreaker6, please continue doing your best with editing! And geez, I had corrected 'Breast God Language' once when a reader pointed it out. To think that it would appear twice... Vanant (talk) 04:54, 24 July 2014 (CDT)

Editing the chapters...[edit]

Hi, zmunjali

I'm quite interested with your translations. So I started editing your unedited translations but it was reverted back by the Management staffs because I'm not registered as an editor in this LN. So I'm asking permission to edit this wonderful story and be a part of the editing team.

I already have experienced on editing Light Novels and I will really be glad if I could help making this LN wonderful.

Name consistency between chapters[edit]

It would be better to keep the name consistency between chapters. I can see that the names are different, when we see the chapters in between and the latest chapters.

--05.08.2014-- It would better to keep a note in the affected chapters not to touch the names.
