Epilogue[edit]

“Going at it alone like that, I wonder if you’ll really be alright…”

Elmeria made a sarcastic remark, while standing under a shade atop a ledge with the scenery of a desert stretching behind her as backdrop.

All while twirling a white parasol.

“Just leave it to me. It’s not the same as that time, you know?”

While inspecting his Kut-Ku equipment one last time, Zeeg made a fearless declaration as he laughed.

“How so?”

Whimsically doubtful, Elmeria tilted her head.

As always, Gannon stood behind the girl like a statue with a stern expression painted on his face, silently listening to the exchange between the boy and the girl.

“This thing, what else?”

Zeeg knocked on the handle of the great sword on his back- Its blade dyed in flaming red and lined with shredding fangs, it is the Lacerator Blade+.

In the end, after his dilemma whether or not to wait and upgrade his sword to the Tactical Blade, he came to a conclusion that it would take too long to gather the Fire Wyvern Claws needed. Besides, he would also need Fradio’s help if he were to get some Pale Extracts for brewing Mega Demondrugs, and with that being out of the question, it was only practical for the boy to settle for the second best option.

From the last incident, Fradio’s hate for the Khezu had further solidified, ahough not to the point of being impossible to handle just yet.

“For the rest of my like, I hope to not encounter that disgusting wyvern ever again.”

He made that declaration with an unbreakable will, tougher than even Dragonite Ore.

But today, Fradio is not here with them- At the basecamp of the desert region.

Shortly after being released from hospitalization, he took up some light hunting jobs to get back into shape, before taking another vacation to spend time with his beloved Gypceros.

At first, Zeeg intended to pass his leisurely time in the city.

However, he almost immediately got word from a merchant who went to Kokoto Village that the Monoblos had reappeared. The boy couldn’t possibly afford to keep still.

And for some unknown reason, Elmeria and Gannon also came along.

The conditions of the Village Chief’s request is the same as last time.

Just that this time, as a measure to prevent a failed subjugation from happening, the old man had issued the quest to multiple hunters at once.

“Let the fastest one win, was what he meant.”

Without any hesitation, Zeeg paid up the contract fee.

That happened the day before yesterday.

After confirming the stock of his Potions, Flash Bombs, and other tools, Zeeg looked at Elmeria.

“…Don’t butt in, alright?”

“Dressed like this?”

Today, the girl isn’t wearing her usual Rathalos equipment, but rather a dress with long skirt and complete with a frilly parasol, making the boy want to call her out for looking so flashy like some kind of noblewoman.

Gannon is in his usual Diablo Mail, making the contrast so great that it hurts.

Held in his hand is a large basket.

Contained inside are home-made sandwiches they received from the villagers.

From Elmeria’s neck hung a pair of binoculars, making it perfectly apparent that she’s here for a picnic.

“We’re just going to look this time, so don’t worry. Well, do your best and try not to die, alright?”

“You didn’t even have to tell me that much.”

Zeeg then reminisced about Freda.

Since then, he would sometimes hear rumors of her- of Freda the Frowner. Currently, she seems to be gaining quite a lot of popularity among traveling bards and poets.

Has she responded to the Monoblos’s reappearance as well?

Maybe, just maybe- They would meet her again right here- That was what Zeeg thought during his carriage trip to Kokoto Village.

The Village Chief hadn’t informed Zeeg of the names of the other hunters who had also accepted this quest.

He only knew that among them was the maid in black from the village’s gathering hall, the one called Vivi. It’s possible that Freda is also among that list of hunters as well.

(“Still, no hard feelings or anything… The one who hunts down the Monoblos will be me!”)

Zeeg’s fighting spirit flared up, hotter that even the desert’s scorching sun.

“Alright, I’ll be off.”

On the other side of the darkness, it lies in wait.

Waving his hand to Elmeria, Zeeg then walked off towards the tunnel that connects the basecamp to the rocky canyons.

In order to settle an unfinished score, alone.

-What awaits is the one-horned wyvern, Monoblos!
