Ura Ma R! - Gwendal, Wolfram and Yozak[edit]

Original Title: 裏マR! グウェンダル&ヴォルフラム&ヨザック編
Release date: February 29, 2008, with the 4th OVA Kyou Kara Maou! R "The Maiden of Love".
Cast:(Wolfram) Saiga Mitsuki; (Gwendal) Ootsuka Akio; (Jozak) Takeda Masanori.
(drama cd staff info unknown)

Translator's note: This drama cd is related to the 4th OVA "The Maiden of Love". Quick summary: While remodeling the castle, some workers find a huge kumahachi (bearbee) cocoon and also an engraving of a girl (the maiden of love) and a huge kumahachi. Then, the dragons of Shin Makoku go crazy and start destroying the capital. It is then discovered that once every 1000 years a Kumahachi has to be offered as a sacrifice to the dragons to calm them down. Yuuri goes into maou-mode, says that he can't go against the laws of nature and decides to give the kumahachi to the dragons. Gwendal tells him not to do it and then performs a preemptive attack, claiming he will protect the kumahachi. His love (yes, Gwendal is the Maiden of Love) causes the kumahachi cocoon to hatch and a huge kumahachi emerges. The kumahachi then explodes into lots of smaller kumahachis (?) which release some sort of magic that causes the dragons to calm down. The end.

FX:*owls, wind*

FX:*Gwendal is writing, he stops*

Gwendal: *sighs* I've made a lot of progress with this paperwork.

Josak: Your Excellency, you've worked hard today. You don't have to overdo it. *whispers* How about going to bed now?

Gwendal: Josak Gurrier, don't whisper in my ear. It's disgusting.

Josak: How mean~! Gurrier is worried about his Excellency from the bottom of his heart!

Gwendal: There's no reason for you to be worried. In any case, after what happened today with the dragons' rebellion, there's a lot of office work that didn't get done. I can't put off these administrative issues.

Josak: This is exactly why I worry...

Gwendal: Did you say something?

Josak: No, I didn't say anything. Ah, but your Excellency? As expected, look, since you moved around a lot today, don't you smell sweaty?

Gwendal:*sniffs* I smell?

Josak: It's not like I dislike your Excellency's sweaty smell or anything, ne? But since I've already prepared a bath, please take advantage of it when you wanna call it a day. Ah! Should I wash your back?

Gwendal: *sighs* No, that's fine.

Josak: *pout* Shoot...!

Gwendal: If you have time for those stupid things, here, take a look at these documents. Put them in order according to their importance. Come on, hurry up.

Josak: Eh? I'm good with manual labor, but I'm not good at reading and writing.

Gwendal: Liar. I know you don't look like much of an intelligent man and you prefer to go on solo missions outside the castle. That's why, by comparison, your physical ability is higher and you have the body of a beast.

Josak: Wai~ I'm glad that you esteem me so highly.

FX:*knock on the door*

Gwendal: Come in.

Wolfram(from behind the door): Please excuse me.

FX:*opens the door*

Wolfram: Older brother, how are you feeling?

Gwendal: Fine. There's nothing wrong with me.

Wolfram: But, today... I thought you would be very tired...

Gwendal: The one who must be tired is his Majesty the Maou. He's been moving around non-stop since early morning.

Wolfram: That's....

Josak: I've been moving around since early morning too!

Gwendal: You need to be quiet for a moment now.

Josak: Yeah...

FX:*Josak walks away*

Gwendal:*puffs* What is it? Sit down.

Wolfram: Yes.

Gwendal: Wolfram, I'm not saying that you shouldn't come in here, but you are his vassal and fiancé, is it okay for you not to be by his Majesty's side?

Wolfram: That guy, no I mean, his Majesty is doing fine. He went to bed a moment ago, and in the blink of an eye he was fast asleep.

Gwendal: I see. As expected, it's physically exhausting for him to make that manifestation, huh?

Wolfram: Yes, it is, isn't it?

Gwendal: So, what are you doing here this late at night?

Wolfram: Uhm... about that... Older brother, there's something that's been worrying me...

Gwendal: "Worrying"?

Wolfram: Yes, it's about what happened with Yuuri today. The moment he understood that in order to calm the dragons' rebellion he had to sacrifice the pink Kumahachi... I couldn't believe... the choice he made.

Gwendal: Hm. What is it that you couldn't believe?

Wolfram: Yuuri is a henachoko (rookie). He's a man who would never sacrifice someone in order to achieve anything... or so I believed. In the end, today he... couldn't resist offering the pink kumahachi...

Josak: I see. His Excellency Wolfram was somewhat disappointed with the decision that his Majesty made.

Wolfram: Even after older brother, who usually has a cold personality, advised him not to sacrifice the pink kumahachi. Didn't you even risk your life going against the maou? And despite that...

Josak: Well, it can't be helped, my Excellency desperately tried to save the pink kumahachi because he likes cute things...

Gwendal: You need to be quiet for a moment now.

Wolfram: Older brother, what are your thoughts about Yuuri displaying that kind of behavior?

Gwendal: And what is 'that kind of behavior'?

Wolfram: It's absolutely not a bad thing for the maou to be an awfully cruel ruler, inspiring fear into neighboring countries... but even so... I... I don't want to put that kind of pressure on Yuuri.

Josak:*whew* I'm stunned! Wah~! That's love!

Gwendal: I see...

Wolfram: Older brother?

Gwendal: Wolfram, I understand your feelings perfectly, but you don't have to worry. I noticed this later on, his Majesty was behaving in a righteous way.

Wolfram: Righteous?

Gwendal: That's right. Because the maou's intention behind trying to stop me was for me to make the first move.

Wolfram: Eh? Really?

Gwendal: It's up to you whether you believe it or not. But back then, when I made the attack, exactly at that time, I assessed the situation and realized that the path to get the answer that I wanted, was being showned to me by no other than his Majesty.

Wolfram: You figured all of that?

Gwendal: Hmph! After looking at that angry front he puts on, I got an uncomfortable feeling.

Wolfram: What do you mean?

Gwendal: I had the same strange feeling in the Svelera's mines, but unlike today, back then the manifestation of the maou's true anger was ... that thing.

Wolfram: Right...

Gwendal: Today, even though his power was intense, it wrapped around him displaying kindness. Hm. Well, I'm just telling you what I remember...

Wolfram: Yes...

Josak: Here you are your Excellency, the documents. They're in order of importance from top to bottom.

Gwendal: Ah, thank you.

Josak: Well, even if you say that up until a while ago I couldn't believe it myself. In the evening, I was called by his Highness to work at the Shinou's Mausoleum and His Majesty was there as well.

Wolfram: What did you say? This is the first I've heard of this!

Josak: Now, now, your Excellency the third son, both of them are soukoku and good friends, having a friend to talk to is a beautiful thing. You don't need to get so hairy about such a trivial matter. If you don't let him be around other men out of jealousy, you will end up being hated.

Wolfram: I'm not restraining him out of jealousy! Stop saying those aggravating things!

Gwendal: Enough, carry on with your story. So, what happened between His Majesty and his Highness?

Josak: Ah, sorry. And so, at that time his Highness said this while *pat*pat* patting his Majesty's shoulder: "Shibuya, you did a good job playing your role today."

Gwendal: I see.

Wolfram:*fist clench* Josak Gurrier... you really are a nosy man who will stop at nothing to listen to other people's conversations, huh!?

Josak: Eh? But that is Gurrier's job~! Besides, look, it is the fate of housekeepers and spies to witness many things that take place~♪ [1]

Wolfram: Stop using the slang of ignorant women.

Josak: Ehhh...?

Gwendal: But with this, haven't your worries been put to rest, Wolfram?

Wolfram: Gh... well, yes...

Josak: Well, for now, I guess we've realized how skilled the young master truly is.

Gwendal: Hmph. The king of this nation must have a heart as big as his. It would be a problem if he had nothing but his power.

Josak: Right?

FX:*Wolfram stands up and walks away*

Gwendal: Are you leaving?

Wolfram: Yes, sorry for interrupting you, older brother. I was happy to hear what you just told me.

Josak: Your Excellency Woltan[2]! Sleep tight!

Wolfram:*fist clench* The only thing I don't understand is why this guy sits here in older brother's office, making a face like he owns the place.

Gwendal: What a coincidence, I don't get that either.

Josak: Ah, but your Excellency pu, next time, don't interrupt the "love-hours" of my Excellency and I . I'd like to sincerely ask you to stop such inelegant behavior.

Wolfram: I've always wondered about this ... why did you make this man one of your most trusted retainers, older brother? Does he have something on you?

Gwendal: No, he's the type of man who can do his job under dire circumstances.

Josak: That's right. His Excellency Gwendal can't live without Gurrier anymore!

Gwendal: Don't say weird things. Enough, give me those documents.

Josak: Eh? But these are still incomplete...

Gwendal: It's fine, I'll finish them. You and Wolfram should go home. You're in the way here. C'mon, it's fine give them to me.

Josak: Your Excellency, can it be that you're angry?

Gwendal: I'm just tired of listening to your nonsense. You're making me angry.

Josak: I'll be quiet, let me help you.

Wolfram: Cut it out.

Gwendal: Don't be stubborn. I told you to hurry up and give them to me!

FX:*Gwendal struggles to get the documents, but slaps Josak on the cheek. This happens in slow motion*

Josak: Ah!

Gwendal: Ah!

FX:*documents end up all over the floor*

Josak: It hurts~!

Wolfram: *terrified* Tch... ugh...! Older brother~

Gwendal: Ah, no, what just happened... it was an accident! I didn't hit you on purpose!

Wolfram: *more terrified* Older brother... but that... you slapped him on his left cheek.... with your right hand....

Josak: Ahn~♥! It was definitely, definitely a slap! Your Excellency Woltan, you saw it right?

Wolfram: Eh? Ah! No, I didn't see anything!

Josak: *holding his cheek* It hurts, it hurts! *walks* Hey, everyone listen! His Excellency slapped me on my left cheek...

Gwendal: Stop messing around! There's no way someone with that large body build would be in any pain!

Wolfram: Older brother.... to make things worse, it was in a place like this! To a man like that! Using the ancient tradition of the slap on the cheek! You proposed!

Gwendal: Don't compare this to that joke of a marriage proposal you got~! Stop messing around!

Wolfram: Older brother, those words are inexcusable!

Josak: But Gurrier is happy~♥! I'll keep your Excellency entertained.

Gwendal: AH!?

Josak: Even though I'm an ordinary person who doesn't possess any maryoku, I'll do anything for the von Voltaire family . No matter how much my mean mother-in-law bullies me...

Wolfram: How rude! My mother would never bully a bride!

Gwendal: Wolfram, that's not the problem.

Wolfram: And here I thought that older brother only had eyes for Anissina...

Gwendal: Don't make such an explosive remark!

Josak: I'm so happy~! I have to go tell my commander right away!

Wolfram: That's right! I have to go tell Yuuri as well!

Gwendal: Stop it! Really stop right now.

Josak: Ah~! I have to get a super cute wedding dress for the ceremony with my best friend's older brother~!

Wolfram: Older brother, in mother's sketch book you were the one ...

Gwendal: YOU BASTARD, CUT THE CRAP!

FX:*something, possibly Gwendal's head, explodes*

References[edit]

  1. Sometimes Josak speaks using certain particles that only women use like : "nano" at the end of a sentence or "ara" to say "my,my". Josak also uses "yon" instead of "yo". Not all women use these particles, only airheads... (btw, Cherie talks like this too ) 'Nano' is used a lot by most females though.
  2. -tan is a suffix added to cute things. Calling him the 'third son', "Woltan" and of course "pu(prince)" is obviously disrespectful.
