Murakenzu - Twitter thread October 29, 2021[edit]

"This is Murata, the well-informed-one in Murakenzu, the comedy duo that blows in with the first winds of winter. [1]"

"This is Shibuya, the one who has no clue what I should be informed about."

"I'm just saying that I'm more experienced."

"Experienced at what-... I bet I shouldn't ask."

"And that's why, Shibuya-kun, as the more experienced one, I think that if you want to get a recommendation to continue onto university, it would be more appealing if you did club activities."

"Why are we suddenly talking about going to university!? Actually, I haven't even yet decided if I'm going or not! The idea of getting a recommendation can't even fit into my brain!"

"2 years will fly by, you know?"

"No, listen. Isn't the job I have right now more important than what I'm doing in the future? I'm a king, more or less. Although I'm a novice and the position is little more than temporary, I'm still treating it like work."

"But listen, if an interviewer asked you, 'What part of high school life did you put a lot of effort into?' could you say 'I ruled a country?' Do you think they'll believe you? What would the interviewer say?"

" They'd say... 'Stop telling dumb lies.'"

"Right?"

"Then what if I tell them I managed a grass-lot baseball team?"

"Grass."

"No it's not! Well yeah it is, but!" [2]

"A high schooler who can put together an amature team is impressive, but nowadays you can't use a baseball uniform as a Halloween costume anymore."

"Hey, wait ..."

"And that's why I, the more experienced one, have prepared some club costu... uniforms that may suit you well. Ta~dah!"

"When did the topic change?"

"First are the ball-sports: soccer, rugby, volleyball."

"Ah, that's not gonna work. I'm pretty average at all ball-sports except for baseball."

"Stats don't matter when it comes to wearing clothes, so go ahead, try it on... I see Shibuya, when it comes to you... the sportwear suits you, huh?"

"I've thought so too, but shorts are strangely embarrassing to wear."

"So a tennis uniform would be out of the question, too."

"Yeah, even though I know a lot of princes [3]. But as for whether they'd all look good in shorts, that's really not a hard question to answer, huh? Wolf, Conrad and Gwen would all look good in them. Of course, Gunter too. Ah! They'd also look on Gurie-chan."

"I bet he'd look good in a cheerleading outfit, too."

"Anything would look good on him. Swimwear, women's rhythmic gymnastics wear, anything. That's because he has a lot of sportsmanHIPS..." [4]

"But, he'd probably say something like 'Sorry for being too sexy.'"

"Ah, he would!"

"All right! Let's try the martial art ones next. These come in handy protecting yourself in real life, so you won't need a bodyguard anymore."

"Just by wearing it!? Nononono, for starters, you can't protect yourself with archery. Bows are long, they're slow, and if you're not good at it you can shoot your allies in the back!"

"Through the heart of your relatives, too!" [5]

"Don't pull it out!"

"You don't like archery? But when there's a girl from archery club at a party, I feel faint at heart~"

"I know, it's great how awe-inspiring the girls in the archery club are... wait, what are we talking about?"

"Were you just imagining Hachimitsu-chan?"

"Who is Hachimitsu-chan? Also, he's a guy, so no I wasn't. But, I think it would look good on him. Unlike ball-sport uniforms, any martial art uniforms would look good on them: The Three Mazoku Brothers Who Would Look Good."

"Archery, kendo, judo... Ah wait, I think there's one of them I'd choose for judo. It suits His Excellency the oldest son."

"Judo would fit Gurie-chan, too."

"Yeah, it would. Maybe he could be Shin Makoku's fashion leader."

"Ice hockey too, ice hockey. He could use that mask for Halloween, too. Ice hockey should be brought to Shin Makoku as a second club activity." [6]

"Um, when did I talk about club activities to tell mazoku about?"

"You're the one constantly changing the topic, Murata... What was it? Were we talking about interviews and appealing school records?"

"Because this is about putting in effort during high school, it doesn't need to be sports. It can be a culture related club, too. Something like brass band, tea ceremony, flower arrangement or such"

"If I had to choose one it would be tea ceremony."

"Tea ceremony is surprisingly popular with people who enjoy tea confectioneries! There's also a royal road story about rescuing less popular club activities."

"Rescuing?"

"Yeah, it's about a new member that joined a club with few people that was in danger of closing due to lack of interest! This person pretended to be an amateur, but while figuring out if they were secretly a talented person or not, they found themselves going to a national tournament! But the life of the player thought to be the savior was short. As the savior quickly died!"

"Don't do that! Don't make it a tragedy like that!"

"So, let's find a club about to close at your high school. Click, click."

"Wow, amazing! You can do something like that with smartphones?"[7]

"Oh, here it is. Let's see. 'Urgently looking for new members! We're at risk of closing. We don't care if we're a side gig, or you're keeping your options open.... the Other World Reincarnation Study Group.'"

"Huh?"

"It says, 'On Halloween day, we'll bring tea confectioneries and we'll be waiting for you after summoning a special guest O*ldMa* from another world.' Yay, people who enjoy tea confectioneries!"

"What? A what from another world?"

"The Other World Reincarnation Study Group"

"No! I mean who's the guest?!"

"An O*ldMa* from another world. Ahh, they're talking about an old man from another world? The censored bits are confusing. Should we call them."

"Isn't the placement of the censoring strange? No, wait! Murata don't call them so fast! Wait, wait!"

  1. In this sentence, there was some word play mixing the words Conbi (comedy duo) and Conbini warp (a form of illegal turning to get to a convenience store parking lot).
  2. This is a joke that does not translate over well into a normal looking interaction in English. Murata responds with the kanji for grass which in this context would mean "They'd laugh." The Japanese way of typing LOL is typing the letter w for warai/laugh and typing a bunch looks like grass (wwwwwwwwww). It's the equivalent of going lololololol! So Yuuri is like "It's not grass! (they wouldn't laugh!) Although it is grass! (it's a grass-lot baseball team!)"
  3. Reference to Prince of Tennis
  4. Yes, he said that
  5. Possibly referring to Wolfram
  6. First one is baseball, brought by Yuuri.
  7. Yuuri is infamously bad at using smartphones
