A conversation between Kino and Hermes.
"Hey, Kino."
"What do you want Hermes?"
"Do you remember all the provinces you've visited so far, or do you at least remember how many you've visited?"
"Uh, that's really impossible for me. What about you Hermes?"
"I remember but... should I say how many?"
"No it's alright. It's meaningless."
A conversation from Kino's master from years ago and her unnamed male partner.
"Hey Master."
"What is it?"
"Do you remember all the provinces you've visited so far, or do you at least remember how many you've visited?"
"That's impossible. I only..."
"You only what?"
"I only remember well the provinces I've visited so far that have been brought to ruin."
"U-uh.. you don't have to tell me."
A conversation between Ti (an exclusive character of the novels) and Shizu (a character who only appears in the anime during the Coliseum episodes).
Ti starts the conversation off silent.
"..."
"What is it Ti?"
"..."
"Is it something about the places we've been? Heh, must be. You must be remembering some impressive things, huh?"
"..."
"Yeah, no matter what you say, it's got to be that boating province."
"..."
"Oh, look you don't need to apologize, and because you won't, I won't either. Now let's set our sights on the next province."
A conversation between Sou and Photo (both exclusive characters of the novel).
"Hey Sou."
"What is it?"
"You must have seen many different provinces by now huh?"
"Yeah... good ones, bad ones, there's a bunch of them. Shall I tell you about them all?"
"That'd be good. But really I'd like to know about just one... Where are we now?"
"Dunno."
"Huh?"
"I don't know yet, we'll know in a bit. In a bit."
"Huh, I guess that's true."
