Arm/Hand Usage

Well I meant is I completely agree with those arm changes but I'm just particularly curious on line 0062, specifically. With your arm edits (I don't see "hand" so I do agree), why does Tomoya talk about holding a girl's hand if Tomoyo kept grabbing his arm? Before the changes since it was hand, this wasn't questionable. It's not you're wrong but rather don't you find that an odd transition? (Tomoyo does grab his hand a few occasions during the day, but with the arm edits, never before line 0062). Amoirsp 4:00 April 17, 2007

I'll just make a self note that a girl is making huge effort to hold onto him. The other way I see it is it's near his wrist. You know, the area of the arm called ... the forearm? (I don't even know the name of the upper half of the arm.) At first I thought grabbing the arm was like arm lock sort of hold (which visually IS a bit much under Tomoyo circumstances). Would this be a possibility of how exactly the arm is held (makes more sense for the prying of the fingers too if it's the forearm)? It's more convincing if it's near the wrist, but the arm is pretty long for a hand to grab. :P Actually, Tomoyo IS holding near Tomoya's wrist, isn't she? ... or they are holding hands, but when Tomoyo pulls on Tomoya, it's still pulling his arm, even if they were holding hands? Do any of these sound plausible? (I'm just thinking of imagery, as I find the text in terms of arm and hand good as it is) Big difference between arm pull (extending) and arm drag (literally) .-Amoirsp

We really need to interpret this correctly. As you can see she definitely grab a hold of his arm in line <0038> and after she lets go, she grab it again at line <0048>... Now, the problem is line <0061>...

This sounded like Tomoyo was actually holding his hand, then line <0062> backed up that interpretation. And line <0063> is kinda implying that he doesn't feel bad about holding hands with her because he's unconsciously thinking that she's a girl. To put it simply, the answer is that your questioning is very sensible, and that I think it is a writer's mistake. The mistake is that the "腕" of #0048 must be replaced "手" from the context. If true, this confusion completely solved. Very subtle... Here is my thought. Some Japanese may have a different opinion... From depiction point of view, Repeating "腕" two times produces a rhythmic description. In order to fulfill it, possibly the writer made the mistake deliberately, asumming that most Japanese readers correct this ambiguity unconsciously.

0038 Her first grabbing was ARM!

She tryed WALKING, pulling him. Maybe, Japanese may not grab a hand all of sudden to pull him/her. FIRSTLY, Grabbing an arm is a conservative way(maybe, some exceptions exist).

0043 They were walking fast. In other words, running slower than 0048-0053.

0048 Her second grabbing was HAND!

She released his arm. Or he shaked himself free of her hand. SECONDLY, then she grabbed a hold of his hand in order to run with him while holding his hand. If the distance of two people is longer, running in this circumstance is easier, isn't it? Plus, when one run while pulling another, Grabbing other's hand is more popular and more moe than grabbing other's arm. On the other hand, grabbing other's arm reminds me of walking togher.

0062 His retrospect was about HAND in #0048-#0053

Generally, holding a girl's hand is one of the most popular, stimulative moe situation in eroges. Thus, the writer's intention was bound to the truth. My reasoning starts here, and to make it true, my opinion results in like this.
