Sinopsis de la Historia

Strike Witches sucede en un mundo parecido a la Tierra pero donde la magia existe. La magia es un poder exclusivo de algunas chicas jóvenes, que normalmente desaparece a la edad de 20 años aproximadamente. Los poderes mágicos más comunes son los de proyectar un escudo mágico, mover objetos o volar en escoba. Pero en los siglos XVI y XVII la humanidad entró en una época de descubrimientos, principalmente promovido por la invención del motor mágico de la Witch de Britannia Jamie Watt, un dispositivo mecánico de vapor que podía aumentar la capacidad mágica de las Witches, que más tarde sería utilizado para conducir todo tipo de maquinaria. El motor mágico rápidamente se puso en uso en muchas ramas de la industria y el transporte, aumentando los niveles de producción hasta entonces inimaginables.

Sin embargo, junto al incremento del uso de la magia, los avistamientos de los Neuroi, enigmáticas formas de vida que se habían visto en contadas ocasiones a lo largo de los siglos, también empezaron a incrementar. Apareciendo en países de todo el mundo, los Neuroi esparcían un miasma tóxico, contaminando la tierra y consumiendo todo tipo de metales y empezaron a invadir los territorios humanos. Los soldados convencionales no podían acercarse al miasma y la humanidad estaba en las últimas, sin más opción que la retirada. Fue entonces cuando se descubrió que el escudo protector de las Witches podía bloquear el miasma, y con el poder del motor mágico las Witches se unieron a la batalla. Con la habilidad de llevar armas pesadas, imbuir poder mágico a sus ataques, volar libremente por el cielo y bloquear los ataques enemigos con sus escudos, las Witches empezaron a cambiar el rumbo de la guerra contra la invasión Neuroi. Estas Witches, junto a sus Strikers Units que llevaban, fueron conocidas como las "Strike Witches".

En 1939, el continente europeo hizo frente a la crisis de la invasión Neuroi a una escala sin precedentes, Witches de La Armada Imperial y la Marina del lejano Imperio de Fuso fueron enviadas al campo de batalla como soldados voluntarios.
