Track 2ː Meeting with the Editor 1[edit]

FX: *writing*

Günter: This morning, I had a strange dream. Two other soukoku besides his Majesty, were present at our meeting. Both of them possessed a beauty that was not inferior to that of His Majesty. When I woke up, I forgot some small details.[1] To see unexpectedly those three people one right next to the other, was indeed, a sight for sore eyes. Ah~! Why did I have a dream like that? Could it be that they appeared in my dreams because of my longings? Which reminds me, the topic of discussion at that meeting, was that strange presence that I've been feeling around me lately, which has me very concerned. Before long, I will have to have a conversation about this with his Majesty. In any case..

FX: *something makes a sound*

Günter: Who is it? Is there someone there?

Badwik: Is that, a diary?

Günter: What is this? Who are you? This is the private room of von Christ Günter.

Badwik: That's a diary, isn't it? The latest one, isn't it? Please, please let me see it, however~! *runs towards Günter*

Günter: What are you~!? Uwa~h!

FX: *both of them fall to the floor*

Badwik: Ouch, ouch, ouch, ouch...

Günter: Ah... my glasses, glasses... glasses... Ah~! Here they are. *puts them on* *clears throat* Oh my. You are... one of the small kids on a field trip? You shouldn't come this far into the castle. Who's the teacher in charge of your class?

Badwik: No, no, no. Actually, even if I look like this I'm an adult, but thanks to this physique, people often get confused. Ah~! Here's my card.

Günter: Ah... thank you for your kindness... Uhm... "Folkloke Badwik, Shin Makoku's Central Literary Institute, person in charge of literary work for the amusement of older women"[2]? Since you're from the Literary Institute, does that mean you're an editor?

Badwik: Yes, yes. As I expected from your Excellency.

Günter: Have you been following me around in the castle? In that case, if this is about the strenghtening of the new administrative rules...

Badwik: No, you're wrong, you're wrong. Actually, I came to talk with your excellency about editing some of your works, your diary.

Günter: D... Diary?! What is this diary you talk about?! I am at the moment, very busy so...

Badwik: Well, then please listen. It's something like this, in a place lacking a lot of things, with no elegancy, and where everything could be less objectionable however~ a story of forbidden love, adventures, and the friendship between two men, that one could not stop reading because it's so exciting, and it has the best plot, that clever story was written in that place, behind closed doors, in complete secrecy, believe it or not.

Günter: I have no idea~! I have never heard of the existence of a diary like that.

Badwik: Eh! Of course, they're not getting money with that book. None the less, a work of such fantastic taste, would cause an increase in sales. Do you know what I'm talking about? The diary I'm talking about is this *shows him a book* I wouldn't mind assisting in editing it so that it can be more complete.

Günter: What is this book? Ah~! Could this be about his Majesty and...*nosebleed* What a suspicious book. Did you buy this in a store?

Badwik: No, no. This is a work that someone made as a hobby, about a secret passionate story between master and servant, called "The diary that bloomed during an overseas trip" , known as " The item I have to get no matter what at the Diary's Only Festival " however~.

Günter: That... that Diary's Only Festival, where is it?

Badwik: Do you want to go?

Günter: Eh? No, no. I'm not particularly interested in that.*grabs book and reads* Uhn... it really is... that fool copied it... Is this really the work of an artist?

Badwik: It's the work of an authentic amateur. But even so it is something that women would enjoy.

Günter: W... Women like this kind of things?!

Badwik: Regrettably, in our country there are very few works published for women, the publications are mainly for men. And now this writer for women appears and finally makes a book for women. Do you understand?! For these women, it would be an item of endless possibilities, a golden promise! If we abandon this now, there will be many readers who will be at a loss since they won't be able to acquire it, your Excellency!!!

Günter: Huh...

Badwik: And you know, you know? Your Excellency's diary will be appropriate to catch the attention of our sensitive female readers. Since the derived work was so popular among people, I thought "This wonderful book, if we leave it like this it will be a waste", so I tried coming here to ask you!

Günter: So in other words...

Badwik: Yes. I was thinking about having Shin Makoku's Central Literary publish the work that his Excellency wrote "A Love Diary Composed in Summer". That's what I've been thinking, yes~!

Günter: *screams* Wah~! I knew it , it's that after all. But that book is about the stories of loyalty and trust between His Majesty and myself. So... that book I wanted to sort of... keep it a secret.

Badwik: Yes, yes... I thought those while ideas were in it.

Günter: Wild ideas, how dare you~!

Badwik: Don't worry about it, for all the women reading, they'll buy into that type of story whether there's reciprocity or not. That's why, your excellency, even if his Majesty is indifferent to you, just write it like that, because it will be very interesting.

Günter: Indifferent.... how can you~! That's too much for me, tosa~![3]

Badwik: Oh~! Your excellency, you were born near Tosa?

Actually, the old lover of the mother of the teacher of the friend of a relative of mine was born in Tosa. Wah~ that brings back memories, tosa!

Günter: Wouldn't that be a complete stranger? Rude.

Badwik: Well, well... your excellency's wild ideas are nice, huh? A diary like this full of dreams , would make the average housewives that loiter around full of desire, want to meet you. Of course, I don't mind if you don't want to use your real name.

Günter: No, but...

Badwik: Then, I'm really sorry about this but, we're going to have to alter the main line of the Love diary a little bit, but clearly since it's so popular we'll make a new diary that everyone will want to read.

Günter: W.. wait a moment please. Even though we have continued to talk about the sudden publication of it... No, in any case, I have only began to write it, there are very few pages, and can't be shown to other people...

Badwik: Is that so? Then I think you need to write new material for it...

Günter: Write new material for it? For the diary? Do you mean to fabricate stories to write in the diary?! Do you mean to fake situations for it?!

Badwik: No, no. You don't need to be so formal about it. You need to think about situations that the readers will enjoy. Something like, the type of stories that women like about meeting that one true love.

Günter: Even if you say that, I will absolutely not fabricate stories.

Badwik: Of course, I don't mind if it's a real story. One unfolding like in the classics would be fine as well, however~. Do you know a story about a passionate encounter with a dangerous and beautiful partner, where their lives are put at risk ? If you were to ask for it, as the editor, I wouldn't mind helping your excellency produce the work by giving you suggestions and such, however~.

Günter: Dangerous and beautiful partners, who risk their lives. Something like that has not happened to me, but now that you mention it some time ago I've heard about a similar story to the classics somewhere...

Badwik: Yes, that's it. Please tell me that story!

Günter: That was, if I remember correctly... something that happened quite a long time ago...

References[edit]

  1. Judging by the last track, I'm going to guess he forgot their names.
  2. Fujoshi can mean older woman(婦女子), or woman interested in homoerotic comics(腐女子). In the novels it says (婦女子) which was translated as "women and children" in the novel translations, but if you ask me the meaning for (婦女子) in this case should be "women of a certain age", not women and children.
  3. Since Günter is from a place near Lake Tosa, he adds tosa at the end of the sentences when he's feeling overwhelmed.
