Please be careful in using «», it can only be used where it has been used in the japanese version. We prefer to stay as close to the original as possible. As long as you keep that in mind there won't be any problems, hopefully. Welcome aboard. Zero2001 - Talk - 16:48, 3 September 2012 (CDT)

Also, take note, author narration = past tense, but character narration must be in present unless it is clearly a flash back or if the character is clearly referring to something in the past (immediate or otherwise). Thus, I had to undo your edits on SAO v1 c1. Zero2001 - Talk - 16:56, 3 September 2012 (CDT)

Basically, the past/present tense of narration is different for author and character narration. If it feels like the character is narrating then it's mostly present tense except when it specifically feels like the character is telling about a past event (immediate-past or otherwise). If it's author narration then it's mostly always past tense. My suggestion is to leave the tenses to the more experienced editors. And be careful how you edit, if the change completely differs from the japanese version it will probably be reverted. We try to provide a translation that is as close as possible to the original without ruining the setting. We normally don't remove honorifics and we use japanese family terms (onii-san, onee-chan, etc), especially in character speech, because of the many variants (each carrying a different level of respect that can't be properly translated to English). Explanations are given via reference notes. Finally, if there is something you think is wrong but might spark a conflict if you change it then it is better to mention it on the respective chapter talk page and ask a translator/senior editor to double check.
