Prologue
《Absolute Duo》———.
I didn’t have the time to ask about the meaning of that word.
“———Ku!!”
The mark called 《Astar》appeared on my chest, and it was giving out a strong heat.
The heat spread out to my whole body instantly, and it became harder to breathe.
My body gets distorted by the feeling of having hell fire burning inside my body.
However, this was a ritual.
The power that surpasses human —— a process of sublimating by taking in 《Luciful》into your body.
“Ugh……ah……aaaaaaaaaagggh!”
I shouted in agony by the feeling of having my blood, flesh, and bone burn——.
Right after that, my body was surrounded by 《Flame》.
The hell fire that was overflowing from the 《Astar》goes wild as if it was trying to burn me to ashes who had released it.
But I can’t give in to it.
That’s because I won’t be able to obtain what I am desiring for unless I overcome this 《Flame》.
(I……I have an ambition I must fulfil!!)
That’s right. I can’t stop until I accomplish that.
For that reason, I must control this 《Flame》 which is out of control.
No, I should be able to control this.
That’s because this 《Flame》———is my 《Soul》.
“Ooooooooooooooooh!!”
I shouted with all my energy, and then lifted my fist up— and grabbed my 《Flame》.
“《Blaze》!!”
It responded to the 《word that carried strength》, then the 《Flame》 that was over my body going wild as if it was trying to burn me swirled around my arm like a snake, and then it gave of a light.
“Ku……!”
Because of its strong brightness, I wasn’t able to keep my eyes opened and———.
Eventually when the lights disappeared, I moved my gaze to my arm, and I was in shock.
My 《Flame》 has turned into a 《Shield》.
“This……is my 《Blaze》……?”
“《Irregular》, that’s how I would put it.”
The person who had been watching over me silently since I said that word spoke.
Devilishness, or ominous.
A little girl wearing a gothic dress who made me think of those words.
《Irregular》———there was only one reason for this girl to say that.
Normally, 《Blaze》 was used to define the 《Soul》 that had shaped into a weapon.
However, the thing which materialised onto my arm is no doubt had a shape of a protector.
The mass of metal that had some weight was thick and hard that it made me think it would definitely not be cracked or pierced through.
(This really is ironic……)
For me who wasn’t able to protect to have attained a 《Shield》 which is symbol of protecting……
Even though I had a flashback of the past which I can’t return to———.
The girl in black dress stopped me from remembering about it.
“Now, go. The path that 《Shield》 will lead you to……I’m really looking forward to it.”
While leaving her laughter, the girl in black dress disappeared into the darkness.
The only thing left was silence.
This was the beginning of me, ——the story of Tooru Kokonoe.
