Thank You SO Much!
I would like to thank all those that dedicated their own personal time and hard work into translating the series. It is because of this translation that I am now purchasing the available books, as I have grown to love the series.

The accuracy of translation (even providing links to information that explains jokes that would have been lost on us incapable of understanding them) was truly amazing. Thank you for all of your wonderful and dedicated work.

VOLUME 10 approaching completion??!
According to an article in Sankaku Complex from late August, there was an announcement in The Sneaker from Tanigawa Nagaru stating that work had begun on the publication of Volume 10. Has anybody else heard about this, and if so, can anybody confirm if this is a legitimate announcement? The article in question (http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2009/08/31/nagaru-tanigawa-has-started-new-haruhi-novel/) contains what appears to be a photo of the announcement, but, gaijin that I am, I can't read it. This is big news if its true... ~Anonymous

THE SERIES WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!!
It's horrible that someone's hard work that took a really REALLY long time to complete had to be erased just like that, so all of the fans of the series want to let the translators and editors know how insanely grateful we all are for putting in the effort. We recognize that the story doesn't just magically appear on the site and that there is a great deal of work and dedication that goes into every chapter. It was not in vain! You're work was enjoyed greatly while it was accessible and your fans will not forget how hard you worked for this awesome series to be available to all. ARIGATOU GOZAIMASU!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would really, really, REALLY like to thank the people who worked on this..... It's so horrible that it was erased..... T.T I really feel bad about this........... Sorry if I'm getting above myself for posting here ^^;; But this series was so COMPLETE and the effort that people put into this was obvious. Isn't it also the first project that Baka did? It's just..... so........ sad...... Again thank you, so much.

I felt like crying at the sight of Suzumiya Haruhi in the abandoned series category, because I know just how much time and effort was put into the translation of the series. It makes me really angry that the publishing companies do not appreciate just how much these translations aid sales as opposed to harming sales. I hope that in return, they will hurry up and translate all the current novels so we can all read them over and over again at our leisure.

Ganbare masu, for all current and future projects.

~Sakutani

p.s. Haruhi-san, this is when you threaten that the end of this world is near and get the copyright holders to decide to allow for Baka-tsuki to keep the translations.

I agree that we may be making this look more "professional" than we want to. There is always a danger of being too professional, if you see what I mean. Meanwhile, I've added a page on Tanigawa Nagaru with some biographical data and a bibliography.

Does anyone know if the (translated) novels were ever released in the US? And if so, where I can buy them? I would really like to have a hard copy of this novel. TY in advance. --68.173.155.76 18:38, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

Yes, the first one is available now. YenPress is publishing it. I picked up a copy for 9 bucks for the sake of supporting the author, and it was very much worth it. Right now, I'm using this until the future volumes come out in America. (Lack of a signature: Anon Y. Mous)

**The official American/English Language version of the novel is very much worth buying. The quality of the translation is naturally more consistent from cover-to-cover than you tend to see here on this site, no disrespect intended to the volunteers who have provided these unofficial translations. The hard-bound version looks and feels classy, has all of the illustrations (bw/colored), and just feels good to hold, read, and look at. The only downside is the lack of footnotes explaining cultural references, but I didn't find them to be all that necessary when I read it anyways. If there's something that goes over your head (which I doubt), there's always wikipedia. I highly recommend buying the official releases and supporting the publishers work; maybe it will spur the author to complete volume 10 to know he has an international audience willing to buy his books.

Blanked?
Looks like someone blanked the page. Could someone put it back or something? 24.77.27.166 22:51, 20 January 2010 (UTC)

Not sure, I checked the deletion log and Thelastguardian delete both the front page and the first three chapters... (Kelnos)

If I'm not mistaken they are deleting it due to the novel been released in English.

They are trying not to breake any copyrights.

God fucking dammit. I'd almost finished too. 24.77.27.166 00:30, 21 January 2010 (UTC)

Will the English legal books be so butchered it isn't even worth it anymore?

I've heard some good things about them, but it'll be annoying waiting for them to come out. 24.77.27.166 14:04, 21 March 2010 (UTC)

Vol. 10 Copyright
With the impending release of Volume 10, The Surprise of Suzumiya Haruhi, is it known if Hachette is also the copyright holder?

If unknown (or not yet started), it would be possible for Baka Tsuki to pick up the project again solely for Vol. 10...

Anyone have the translation notes from here? There were particuarly nice for small refrences, and something the official novels are sorely missing. 209.240.91.239 15:01, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
