I love the dark undertones of the novel, although I do feel parts of it are over romanticized, it's extremely tough to find any novel (Japanese or otherwise) that isn't. The idea of the interaction between the two powers that the main heroes possess is a concept i find intriguing, bravo to the author for thinking of such an interesting combination of skills and even more so for combining them in such a novel way.
I personally enjoyed the unique fighting style of Chris as well, i take great pleasure in imagining this young kid who does not want to fight and yet is extremely skilled at it in an unorthodox low stance keeping a light grip on his weapon methodically slicing at limbs and performing feats of high agility as opposed to more common sword fighting styles that focus on maintaining a solid form and stance, perhaps it's just me but it's interesting to imagine haha. Likewise, my imagination of Minerva in a usually spotless white uniform stained red with blood as she cleaves through enemies using a heavy handed technique that relies on the weight of her sword and the momentum it can generate fairly interesting. In short, although the styles mentioned in the novel are most definately over the top and unrealistic, there's no denying there's a certain charm in how unachievable they are by normal people in my opinion.
Plot wise, it's kept me interested in seeing how Fran will deal with all of the troubles that pop up, more importantly, the storyline doesn't even try to bog itself down in a mire of day to day gags that artificially increase page count without providing useful information. A really charming change from the usual novels that I've read recently such as Zero no Tsukaima that spends half the time reestablising the servant master relationship in every novel or those that rely on day to day humor like infinite stratos.
Uh, getting very side tracked.. I'm just hoping that you guys will continue translating this project, it feels pretty fresh to me and i would hate to never have more of this. Thank you so much translators!
Four hours ago i visited Tsurugi no Joou to Rakuin no Ko site on BT by accident (looking for other LN). After this few hours and finished 1 vol I can only say that I want more such accidents in my life
So thanks for translating this series, and I hope that next volumes will be also translated.
Yeah, I agree with the above. I really hope the rest of the series gets translated.
Not just this series, either, though . . . I'll probably have to go around and ask this for all of the other series I'm interested in that aren't completely scanlated as well, but it'd be good if I didn't have to do that.
For now I'll get done with the first volume and then read the manga, and then I'll wait for the rest of the series to scanlated (hopefully the people who should be working are able to get back to it soon enough).
Not to burst your bubble or anything, but since people volunteer works onto BT, there is no one who SHOULD be working on anything. Nobody is assigned anything.
Let me just say that I LOVED this. How I wish the rest of it could be translated. My kanji recognition is insufficient, and to read a light novel without a dictionary is a feat I am currently incapable of performing. I would love nothing more than to see this project begun in earnest.
