you shouldn't be studying by 連用形 grouping which is something like a linguistic category term used to describe how the words appear after a certain transformation. that's like trying to study everything about particles at one go, or akin to studying the entire particle usage of は on day 1 of Japanese studies rather than merely the topic marker function. you should instead be progressively studying by functionality grouping, rather than linguistic grouping.

Ken suggested something semi-perverted as a project of the student council after rejecting Kaichou's idea resulting in getting disproving glares from everyone else.
Basically he's trying to save his face

Well, not sure how it sounds in English(whether it's awkward or not), but the meaning should be something close to that.
