[Ch 3] Mystérique Sign - alteration?

Someone made an edit to this chapter, here and I think it that it it alters the meaning of the sentence. However, before undoing it, I would like to make certain that the new correction is not a correction that is closer to the meaning of the original text.
I thought I had logged in but apparently not. I was reading through it again and felt strange about that part, so I took another look at the original.
