hmmm interesting, i was looking at your index PDFs and notice you put the in-text images outside a "page", how did u manage to keep the numbering?

well my guess its that you left a blank page and then deleted that and added the image directly to the PDF xD but still wondering if it was like that

About that, when I saw in-text image during the page, I waited until it's next page then started new section+new page, put full image in that new page, adjust page size to fit image, then start new section+new page again and continue the text normally, the page number just stays continuous.
Hope I answer your question, or if you want, I can send .doc to you to see too.

I have all your TAMnI PDFs, they are beautifully typeset just the text is little too small for my eyes but one thing I don't like about your version is how you use the image for the cover, it might not be an issue for you and most people, but it doesn't show nicely on my reader.

This picture might explain better than the words, left side is my PDF, right side is yours.

Like I said, most people probably won't notice nor care about this, just it bothers me ^^;

oh hahaahaha yea you know i actually just use those covers for the PDFs my epubs have covers the same as you, as for the text size ive had some other ppl saying that too, might use a bigger font but i personally dont like it too big, well i mostly read epubs now (on my phone) n use the PDF too keep a nice copy for my computer

and as for my question xD dang its such a nice idea but i think if i do that itll mess the TOC (even the whole flow) of the epub i generate with calibre (since its made automatically >_> lots of issues) D= oh well when i feel like it ill start playing around with that, originally i wanted to put it the same as you but gave up when it somehow messed the numbering even after putting a new section but it might've been my installation of word, it was kinda buggy from the beginning

i would aprecciate a .doc just to see if i can somehow use them like that when im remaking the PDFs thanks =)

oh n seeing that image it seems i still have to edit some covers xD, vol 14 i think, its the one it has the back side too

I like epub too, as I can change font size, text/background color (sepia theme is very nice to the eyes). But I can't find a way to make images in between chapter text display properly without leaving half the prior page blank, so I decided to stick with PDF until I can find a way around that issue.

Thank you very much for your feedback, how does nook color handle PDF annotations? I personally don't like how PDF annotations look, but in this case, it's probably better than using translated images having terms inconsistent with actual text inside the volumes: volume 1 major one is 'Blood Knights' in images VS 'Knights of the Blood' in actual text, volume 2 has 'Lizbet' name as 'Lizabeth'.
A picture gives a better idea than words so...
(Scaled: 65% btw)

the 4:3 sizing doesn't bother me that much

Annotations look ok, but I'll need to remove that 'BeginnerXP' on the future versions, unfortunately modified date can't be removed (or I don't know how to).

The actual text page looks very bad though >_<

Here is what I see on my reader app:

I'm not using GoodReader so I can't see annotations, but I prefer nice bookshelf interface with volume covers more.

if its the green tint on the text page, ignore it. It doesn't actually look like that but I think its just the screenshop app not liking Adobe reader

No, I mean the big empty space above and below the page.

If you dont mind that it gets a bit smaller.

Then you could use this.

Code: Select all

.image-wrapper {
	float: right;
	width: 250px;
	max-width: 33%;
	border: 1px gray solid;
	padding: 8pt;
	margin: 8pt 0pt 8pt 16pt;
}
.image-wrapper img {
	max-width: 100%;
}

I'm working on ePUBs, too. If you need help or anything else just ask. I will gladly help.

Still I would like to make a topic where some conventions are made. Because I'm reading on PRS-T1 and some one else read the novels on the phone/iphone/android/tablet.

And the problem is i don't know how it will look on other e-reader.

@Semen
I have to admit I'm completely clueless about HTML & CSS in general, so I have no idea where to put/apply code you provided. Do you have any finished Light Novel ePub I can download to see how it looks like? So far I'm still not sure if it really possible to make image in ePub appears like how it does on original version.

If you have SAO ePub made, this thread is perfectly fine to share and discuss about it. I also can give some feedback based on how it looks on my device (iPad).

So I took the ePUB version of Volume 1 made by Cryzed(thanks) because it was the perfect test subject for editing.
SAO - Volume 1 <<< already edited, please test it on the iPad.
The reason was: I asume he imported the pictures inside his .odt/.doc without a pagebreak and Calibre imported it between the lines of text.
If you open the ePUB in Sigil you can find it in Text/Sword_Art_On-me_1_-_Aincrad_split_004.html line 80

Code: Select all

 <p><img alt="" class="calibre6" src="../Images/00001.jpg" /></p>
I changed the >>class<< atribute to >>class="image-wrapper"<<

Sigil has a good function for finding and replacing Ctrl+F

and then just edited the file Styles/stylesheet.css. At the end of code i add

Code: Select all

.image-wrapper {
	float: right;
	width: 250px;
	max-width: 33%;
	border: 1px gray solid;
	padding: 8pt;
	margin: 8pt 0pt 8pt 16pt;
}
.image-wrapper img {
	max-width: 100%;
}
and if you dont want to use Sigil or just dont have it to edit the ePUB change .epub to .zip then you can open it like a zip folder.

Thank you for teaching me about class and providing epub. I tried it on iPad and result wasn't good.

Portrait mode:

Landscape mode:

I was thinking about using small image as thumbnail floating at right side of the page with text wrapping around it, then if clicking on the image will show its full-size version. But the full-size version also needs to be hidden from normal view, not being at end of book or somewhere else, is it possible ?
