カタリ? (Nogizaka c2v8)

I'm doing nogizaka c2v8 now, and I can't seem to think of a good translation for カタリ. The original text goes like this:

とその時だった。
カタリ。
玄関ドアの向こうで何やら人の気配がしたような気がした。
まさか
それはもうほとんど直感だった。

I looked up the chinese translations, and it's somewhere along the lines of 'knock', or 'tumble', but neither of those sound very accurate. Any better suggestions, people?

it seems like not all dictionaries have this word (for the right context). the closest one I can find would seem to be this:

かたり
[副]堅い物が触れ合って立てる音を表す語。「テーブルに、コップを―と置く」

Maybe something like *clatter* SFX? I'm not that good at English onomatopoeia myself, which is why I usually not translate the Japanese onomatopoeia except when it gets too awkward to use, but from the example sentence, that's the closest one I can think of right now

Door opening SFX, imo. Sounds like the loud clicking sound of huge wooden doors opening.

hmm, based on the context, and the definition I provided, it seems more like a "brief, short" sound, rather than the longer opening sound of a door. combining with that 「テーブルに、コップをカタリと置く」 sound and based on the context, it seems like someone accidentally bumped into the door while eavesdropping or something. just a guess with very little context. I might be totally wrong.

I'm more for the 'accidentally bumping into the door' side as well, so I'm going to use 'bump', even though it sounds nothing like カタリ. Thanks guys!
