【俺の彼女と幼なじみが修羅場すぎる】について

Post by larethian »

【俺の彼女と幼なじみが修羅場すぎる】
I'm confused as to which meaning "すぎる" in the title of this book takes on.
1 ある場所を通り越す(主人公は修羅場をすぎるってこと)
2 普通の程度・水準をこえている(彼女と幼なじみの争いが普通の程度よりすごく激しいってこと)

Since 修羅場, strictly speaking, refers to a location, it feels like (1) is the correct one. But the "が" in the title makes me think it's (2) instead given how 修羅場 is loosely used by the author. Am I off the mark?

My take is 2. Although largely colloquial, using 修羅場 as an adjective for describing a harsh/mayhem situation is certainly not something unheard of.

Some random examples from google:

今は仕事が修羅場すぎるので、なんとも… コナミ検定は放置で。。。

俺の正室と側室が修羅場すぎる。

今週の神のみぞ知るセカイが修羅場すぎる。

原作『俺の妹がこんなに可愛いわけがない』最新8巻の表紙絵とあらすじキタ━(゚∀゚)━!! 色々修羅場すぎるwww

俺の職場と収支が修羅場すぎる。

Ok, this is really really easy and I should not even be asking but....

How the heck do you make this into english?

念押しする彼女の声は、慮外の事象に低く抑えられている

The reminding Bel Peol's voice dipped at that unexpected event

Sounds really really dumb

how about this?

The voice of Bel Peol, who was (going over/reminding) (XXXXX - use previous context words if needed), dipped at that unexpected event.

I think having read nothing but Jap books for over a year now is seriously starting to hurt my English skills.....I'm scared....

Hi, how do you translate the word "半眼", like in かみとは半眼で尋ねた。

The dictionary says that it means "with half open eyes", but what is the meaning that it conveys? When do people make such an expression?
When he is being happy? sad? inquisitive? annoyed?

The dictionary is right.

^_^ while asking a question.

Or maybe just narrowed eyes.

So some kind of blank stare or maybe exasperation/disbelief or disdain depending on the context? I've run into this too and just went with "half-opened eyes" without really understanding it lol.

How do you translate "魔装", like in "魔装少女" in "Is this a zombie", but in my case it is not an armor or clothes, it is referring to a weapon.

Masou. Most people who read what you're translating will go with that.

If you want to localize, you could use magical arm/armament/weapon, but much of the humor is lost.

Not to mention long. Also, the IS in the title refers to Infinite Stratos, just so you know.
Even eternity can be encased in ice.
