So when I first heard about this movie months ago I was like "Micheal Cera? again. sigh" I was thinking of not watching this movie at all. Then my friend got me to read the comic book it is based on. I love the comic since it has that slice-of-life genre to it along with a fantasy genre where your life is like a videogame. I feel it touches upon the nostalgia of many 20-ish years olds, 90-ish generation of my youth and America. I just hope it won't be like toy story 3 how it caters to one generation but makes it irrevlant for those who hasn't seen the 1st toy story. it should attempt to be timeless and rewatchable if you were 70 years old. So my friend got the blu-ray of the movie and we watched it for kicks last night. One of the best movie, at least best adaptation of the comics I've ever seen. I find this is a great example of what adapatation should be. It should really use the source material well, capture the soul of the comic and stands on its own real well for the far-future. I would highly recommend with those who like fast-paced, geeky, pop-culture, alternate rock, gamer, fans. I love hot fuzz but this movie is so much better.

I don't know, I did like the movie but I thought it sort of changed things too much. I understand that they only have a limited amount of time to film everything but they completely changed Ramona, on the outside yeah her personality is the same but her motivation for doing everything was changed. Same with Scott and the whole Gideon memory mess up thing. I liked the comic book reasons for doing everything better then just "Boy loves Girl and does everything for her"

yeah I do understand your statement. My friends who watched it with me does enjoy it alot but there was some issues that felt subtly wrong. Which I why I try my best to tell them the difference between the comic and the movie. I adore the movie but of course the comic-book ending wins it out.

you do understand they had to crammed like six books into one movie? granted yeah the second was a bit messy and changed but I got to give them effort. is good to read the comics afterward to appreciate the effort.
