"Face of Melinda" is coming along, but some of the parts are kind of creative with the fingering.

I'm trying it on the bass, but I can't find a decent tab, and trying to learn it by ear is nearly impossible for me.

Of course, but their bass part is waaaaaaaaaay off. Just listen to the song once and you'll see how bad it is.

Really? It sounds fine to me, and I have listened to this song quite a few times. There again, being a guitarist, I probably tend to pay more attention to the guitar and vocals than anything else.

If you mute everything but the bass, it sounds like some guy made up a part from nowhere. The main riff in reality has a much more "difficult" part than the 3 notes they show...lol. If you want, just look up a bass cover and you'll see what I mean.

I will take your word for it. I also noticed that some of the transitions and whole sections of the song seem to be absent...

Yup, it's one of those songs not many people cared to work with. It's an under-rated song coming from a not popular band...lol

...which is a shame because that song and Opeth in general show an extreme amount of talent. I find it odd how some bands have been around literally for decades, and most of the public has never heard of them. Bands like Opeth, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater, etc. really deserve more of a fan base than they have really.

Very. very true. It is sad that the general public can't discern between "music" and "noise" these days. Honestly, you have a better chance in the music industry with a computer science major than you do with an actual music degree.

And I can very easily say that you have shit taste. So, what logical, rational, and objective argument can you use to convince me that what you listen to is music and what the general public listens to is noise?

Hikari, I am sure that Hex did not mean to say that as a shot across the bow. Instead, I think he meant that just to say that music has become lost in the music industrial "machine," which strips it of its meaning and feeling at the source. This does not mean that the end user cannot have those. It just means that many truly talented groups wind up losing out because of it. This applies across virtually all genres of music. That is all.
