Toaru Majutsu no Index novels help
Hello I was just wondering if someone could help me out. I've only watched the anime and read the manga scans for index and was just wondering how far the anime went in the novels. I only want to know cause I want to start reading them and if I should just start from the beginning in case the anime and the novel arcs go in the same order or if someone could help me out on where to start out on the novels for after the anime ended. Oh and I also can't wait for the second season starting on the 8th next month.

Side story: Railgun, is a side story. It is not in the novels so don't worry about that one.
Anime Season 1: ends at Volume 6.
From the novel illustrations, I am going to guess that the anime leaves multiple things out.
I'm going to assume that Season 2 begins at Volume 7.
