Sid Meier's Civilization IV
I downloaded the demo since it seems to have recieved good ratings and a couple of my Steam friends regularly play it, but I'm completely lost. I'll likely pick it up with more playing time, but since there seems to be an RTS following here, can I get some of your opinions before I invest too much time bothering with it?

Re: Sid Meier's Civilization IV
Id liked it very much, but it can also be very time consuming... but the last times as I played Civ I was playing the "Fall from Heaven" Mod. I think I played more Civmods as the game itself.
Please don't mind my bad english since I'm german.

If you actually want to play it and be serious, Civ IV can be as intricate as a grandmaster's chess game, or if you want to goof off on an easier difficulty, a slower version of Warcraft 3.

Civ 4 is extremely simple and quite boring in comparison with 2 and 3. My all time favorite has to be 3 with the expansions. The combat in 4 is so... soo... dull.

How are they different from four? I assumed it was the same game mechanics. And yes the combat is boring, but I assumed that it was supposed to be boring.
P.S. Civ IV is considered the vanilla game, there are two expansions out that have more features.

Just play 3 or 2 and you'll understand. The combat in them is far from boring, though it does get repetitive.
And yeah, I'm talking about with the expansion packs added. It just doesn't compare.
P.s: You get to play a custom Sengoku era expansion in Civ 3.
