BFG anyone?

Post by Umiman »

Arrrgh! Where's all the anime discussion! We need to draw more people. Oh wait, this is a Suzumiya Haruhi site isn't it? Eh heh...

After going through a slew of BFG series, I thought, hey, they all seem like Evangelion. so, let's observe the similarities while I procrastinate studying for an econs final.

Eureka-7:
1. Silent, mysterious, almost alien girl. With hair that's almost blue? Egads.
2. Big robots which steer more to Evas than Gundams.
3. Fantasmisupersevenswellcosmical power of the main character in a robot that has a face and is supreme over all the female characters' robots.
4. Supporting characters with complicated love lives which focus heavily on dead or missing persons.
5. Initiation story: boy starts out not knowing anything, and ends up the savior of the universe. Sort of.
6. Opponents which can't be clearly defined as evil because nothing much is known about them other than the fact that they are a link to Haruhi-hood. Oh, and they're big and like to smash things. Because smashing things is a sign of Haruhi-hood. (Black & White, hint hint nudge nudge)
7. Scenes of boring self observation which mimic the process of instrumentality

Rahxephon:
1. Silent, mysterious, almost alien girl. With hair color that begins with the same letter as the color blue? Egads.
2. Big robots which steer more to Evas than Gundams. Durrr...
3. Fantasmisupertokyojupitercosmical power of the main character in a robot that has a face and is supreme over all the female characters' robots.
7. Scenes of boring self observation which mimic the process of instrumentality

Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure:
1. Silent, mysterious, almost alien girl. With hair color that is blue? Egads.
2. Big robots which steer more to Evas than Gundams.
3. Fantasmisupercan'tremembercosmical power of the main character in a robot that has a face and is supreme over all the female characters' robots.
4. Supporting characters with complicated love lives which focus heavily on dead or missing persons.
5. Initiation story: boy starts out not knowing anything, and ends up the savior of the universe. Sort of. (And the love of every single female character within a 90 mile radius of him)
6. Opponents which can't be clearly defined as evil because nothing much is known about them other than the fact that they are a link to Haruhi-hood. Oh, and they're big and like to smash things. Because smashing things is a sign of Haruhi-hood.
7. Scenes of boring self observation which mimic the process of instrumentality

Vandread:
1. Silent, mysterious, alien girls. With hair color that is blue? Egads.
2. Big robots which steer more to Evas than Gundams. (Later on. it starts out Gundamish)
3. Fantasmisuperblatantsexualimageryrobotmergercosmical power of the main character in a robot that has a face and is supreme over all the female characters' robots.
4. Supporting characters with complicated love lives which focus heavily on dead or missing persons.
5. Initiation story: boy starts out not knowing anything, and ends up the savior of the universe. Sort of.

I could go on ctrl-v-ing but I think you catch my blatantly obvious drift.
...Tg...g.g........... And Kol Ravensabbey cried,
..g...B...g........@.. "In Armok's name!!!!"
T...T..B..g........... And there was bloodshed.

I'd go help Rei out in an Eva unit!

Although I'd imaging that piloting a Eva unit would be extremely difficult. Imagine, your brain was put into a body completely foreign from your previous body. Your brain will need to remake so many links to control it properly. I'm guessing that in the anime, the pilots of the EVAs would be the ones with nervous and brain systems most similar to the EVA.

Vandread had scense of boring self observation, but I don't remember it being anything like intsrumentality.

And I love the part about the Eva's being surperior to all the female char's Eva's.

I would definently slap around the characters. Nearly all of them. Living underground with flourescent lights has obviously gone to their heads. They're all depressed and sexually frustrated because they forgot what the sun looks like.

If I were a character in Eva I would...Is there an "other" option?

I'd work at getting my masters in counseling and psychology. After this, I could have the schooling paid for in a short time due to the number of certifiable characters on the series.

You'd never get them to sit down for a counseling session. Too busy getting all hormonal and getting themselves killed and bursting into orange goo.

I haven't watched Eva, but if people compare Rei to Yuki, then I'd do something to that perv you mentioned before he could move on to Yuki.

EDIT: Yuki would delete him long before he got into that situtation. Unlike Rei, Yuki seems to be able to fend for herself.

Yuki is kind of like Rei. Sort of. Yuki's much more interesting in my book. Their surnames both come from WWII Japaense warships, which I doubt is accidental.

Do a Google search for Rei Ayanami and be prepared. She is an (in the US, at least) otaku fixture. She is, as was described "Silent, mysterious, almost alien girl." With hair that is blue. She says about 5-10 words an episode, and is a hardcore introvert. Like everyone else on the show, she's moody, angsty, and self-doubting. In addition, she's seen as very passive and shy and has a "thing" (probably platonic) for the main male character.

Yuki doesn't seem to have most of the angst and self-doubt, and doesn't strike me as shy and moody -- just reserved by nature. Yuki also can be played for laughs, which they never really did with Rei.

I voted for porn since I assumed porn includes h-games, SHnY doujins, Nanoha doujins, and Futakoi Alternative doujins (twincest FTW!).

So twincest was the wrong word for it, how about twins having sex with the same guy? Would that make things more clear?

That won't work. The people participating in incest must be asian supermodels.
