MARIA†HOLIC

Post by Kinny Riddle »

C'mon guys, I'm sure I'm not the only sick perv here in B-T that likes this show that turns the "girls private school yuri" genre (think Marimite) on its head by having a perverted lesbo with wild fantasies together with a very cute, but very devious as well as narcissistic "trap"?

(Probably Marimite/Strawberry Panic + OtoBoku = Maria†Holic)

First thing that came into my mind.

... Again, as how I repeat myself in various anime forums discussing this episode, I'd like to expect (although I can't place hopes too high) on the de-yuri-fication of Kanako :3

I had to check who the director was on this series. It was who I thought it was, the director Pani Poni Dash, Negima?!, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, etc. It explained so much about the general approach to the series and why the series is being done in the first place.

Indeed. The entire time I was thinking, "this reminds me of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei an awful lot."

That lesbo who won't shut the hell up annoys me.

But other than that, it was pretty good.

Heh, yeah Kanako can be an annoying lesbo, which makes Mariya the trap even cooler in his "evil mode".

Shinbo Akiyuki, I must remember this guy's name next time. His style is just very distinct. I've not seen other series by him, but I've seen screenshots of Zetsubou Sensei and his style of using dark silhouettes over colourful and fanciful backgrounds is instantly recognizable.

Really? I am kind of surprised that you have not seen any of his other stuff. He has done some fairly popular series, and his work is generally pretty good. However, the only thing about his non sequitur style is that in trying to read all of his references on chalkboards, etc. you will probably go blind/insane from having to stop to read everything. Some of the references that he makes are quite witty and funny, such as his VP Cheney joke in Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.

Read the manga earlier, but not really all that interesting in my opinion... Yucks, guys acting female and all? please...

Zetsubou sensei and Paniponi is good though, not sure about Negima...
God!!
You need not forgive me.
For those I love,
The violence brought about by sinful men
Shall now be used once more.
If you were created to save this world,
If there is a single shred of hope left for the future of mankind,
I am very sorry, but, please begone!

Well, given who the director is and all, I think that the non sequitur references and all should make this series worth watching to some extent. To me, it is kind of like what Nadeshiko did to Gundam: satirize it until we say enough from laughing too hard.
