In preparation for the end of finals...
Suggest an anime to watch!
I haven't been in the anime scene in ages, don't know what's up, what's down, and what's what. What's nice? Any sequels to nice shows? FMP3 out yet? Suzumiya Haruhi 2 out yet?
I'm sure you guys know what I like:
1. Main character isn't a kid.
2. Main character isn't a girl. (Exception for Cutey Honey!)
3. Giant orbital cannons, giant lasers, big boom, nukes, explosions, death, gore, people killing for the sake of killing, etc.
4. Emo must die.
5. Depressing endings must die.
So... anything?

For most of us lurking in Baka-Tsuki's Toradora sect... of course, we recommend that XD
Also Chaos;Head if you really want some Chaos in your Head, Index (To Aru Majutsu no Index) for DOUBLE LOLI KNOCKOUTS O_O, Kannagi for some funny things... etc.
For older series you better ask those who know, because I'm to lazy to recall old series >_>

Re: In preparation for the end of finals...
Macross Frontier is turning out pretty nice, but it's got emo...
Gundam 00 is partway through the second season and it's excellent, though in the first season the main character is a little young. Pilots look emo 'ala standard Gundam style. Might topple 08th MS Team for my top Gundam pick depending on how it ends. So far, excellent story and pacing. They've learned much in these years... finally...
Code Geass was amazing and the main character is one of the most likable I have ever seen. This is a must watch if you haven't already for some reason.
Black Lagoon is getting a 3rd season, so if you haven't watched the first two, I suggest them. Great cast with tons of awesome violence and gunplay to boot.
Toradora, stay away from it. Awesome main character, but you will hate the rest of the cast.
Toward the Terra was a surprisingly excellent series as well. Not sure if you've watched that, but if you haven't I think it will suit your taste. Gave me the same feeling as Legend of Galactic Heroes with time progressing and character development.
Tengen Toppa: Gurren Lagann was extremely masculine and over-the-top, plus awesome. I'm pretty sure you've seen it because I spotted you quoting a line from it in your sig/avy.
That is really all I can think of for now. I've been pretty out of the loop as well with all the school and work piled on my back. Show your face around here more often lamerz.

Wait... they anounced the new season for Black Lagoon? woohoo!!!
this...and the fact that the teaser patch for Kanon came out... is making this day turn out really good
Edit: actually...since we are on the subject of requesting animes....
i need some suggestions as well...
so here are my preferences...
1. please dont have dull boring typical shounen elements... in which the main character wins something by "force of will" with no regards to reality...
if there is going to be some battle scene... i dont want to already know the outcome before it even starts...
2. twists and turns....i want to be SHOCKED...
I want things that i never would have thought could have been possible to happen
something original...or something completely different from the norms and no cliches
(code geass did this well)
3. a romantic element is a plus(though not necessary)
4. no weak main character... i dont want some pansy who cant decide on anything
5. [dosnt have to follow this plot-line...its just something specific i like]something where a character from a normal setting (as in... just some ordinary guy) is suddenly thrust into a different world (dosnt have to mean litearly another world [though it can]..it can be introduction of magic/aliens/secret society...anything not normal...) or vise versa... a character from an abnormal setting thrust into a normal, peacefull world and them trying to adapt.
also...it can have none of these elements...
just so long as its original in sense of plot and character development
i might think of some other preferences later on

Re: In preparation for the end of finals...
I watched Tengen Toppa Gurren Lag...pffte3lw...
I watched that show until the part where the awesome super manly main character dies and everyone goes emo. For me, the show was an OVA that ended there. I avoid emo like the plague. The plague carried by bubonic fat people. With flatulence problems.
Nice that there's a 3rd season of Black Lagoon. I liked the concept of the show, reminded me of Cowboy Bebop but a bit more immature...
I assumed Code Geass was some fangirl phenomenon and didn't give a damn about it. Since you mentioned it, I guess I'll give it a whirl.
I'm not going to watch Gundam 00 or Macross Frontier until they're finished though.
Assassin: Unfortunately, I'm not a loli kinda guy. More like the anti-loli. And what's Chaos;head?

Detroit Metal City if you haven't already watched it.
P/S: Despite being kinda gory and creepy at times (like, 10% of the time) Chaos;Head has an emo loser male lead than whines about almost everything. Don't bother with it. Even a self-proclaimed psycho loli lover like me can't stand it

No. The characters looked like a gust of wind could blow them away. I'm downloading them both now though. Good ol' Usenet.
Yay! Someone scanlated the prequel to GTO... the one after Bad Company.

Surprised you couldn't find it. I got it in a batch with GTO and Bad Company. It's really short, but good. It's been scantalated for at least 2 years now.Umiman wrote:Yay! Someone scanlated the prequel to GTO... the one after Bad Company.

Re: In preparation for the end of finals...
Hahaha!
Norio Wakamoto is the voice of the emperor in Code Geass.
This further proves my theory that he's in every single damn anime in some way or another. The show is nice though. I kinda wish it wasn't about the same drivel about how Japan is oppressed by white people but meh... It's not a big deal.
