How Many Hours of Baka-Tsuki Time for You?

Post by cloudii »

I've suddenly become curious, but for those of you who actively contribute to Baka-Tsuki, how many hours a week do you spent translating/editing/administrating/deleting-spam/moderating/etc. for Baka-Tsuki every week?

On average, let's say. xD When you're moderately active.

I translate on average 5-7 hours per week. And 2 hours or so reading and replying, and wasting on IRC.

Well this is an interesting topic. Off the top of my head, I wanna say I spend an hour on the forums looking at the threads and such. I spend maybe around 2.5 hours editing as I'm just a roaming editor and another 2.5 hours reading.

It really depends on the week for me. xD

It usually takes me 3-6 hours to translate a short chapter (all OreShura chapters are short |D) which I generally do once a week. And depending on how motivated/not-busy I am, I can spend.... quite a lot of time lurking |D.

Yeah some weeks you can be busy but other weeks can be rather chill. Currently I have a lot of free time thanks to it being finals and winter break right around the corner, so my hours may skyrocket. Besides from that, putting in a solid 6 hours or so a week during the semester seems about right.

Lurking basically all the time. But not really doing anything, I just check when I become tired of studying, so this question is kinda unfair.

But well, I do spend at least 2 hrs per day editing, tling, w/e (I need 1 hr per TLed page :( ) in the evening, so I guess I populate the hardcore group atm.

I normally wasted more time than I should at B-T's forums, but normally I spend a lot of time inside or outside B-T dealing with problems about Brazilian Projects(Which ones the translators tend to drop very easily), then I waste precious 7-10 hours per week here, today, it's not even noon, but I should have wasted about half hour here (I'm on work BTW) :////

EDIT: Cautr my actual pace is 3 page/hour

That's three times as fast as I am. :D Keep it up!

TBH, I "waste" so much time on BT activities because I struggle to get better. And by experience I can tell that I improve the most by doing practical stuff. So atm it is repeating grammar a bit per day, getting my kanji knowledge to 1k as Kouen no Ten advised me to and well, trying to translate to get some experience into it.

When my pace improves, I'll probably spend less time. Also my editing "workload" doesn't really increase, so I'll have less work there soon, too.

Long story short: This just happens to be my lurk peak atm!

1 line per hour. If it's a difficult line.

I mean, really.

Weirdly enough, 7-10 hours a week... Mainly spamming, n on the very rare occasion, editing a B-T series...

Can edit stuff if need be, I've just been bored and busy... for the past 2 years
