Sword Art Online (Arabic)

Post by Shady Aziza »

Hi, I'd like to contribute in translating SAO into Arabic, but actually I don't know what steps should be taken, I have already registered an account at baka-tsuki.org, but what further should be done?
I'd like to know every detail on the whole translation project. And I'm sorry if the topic isn't supposed to be posted here, but I don't know where else should it be posted at.
Thanks in advance,
Shady Aziza.

Hi.

I guess it should be posted on ALF but I approved it the same way.

Well, I guess for you to start a AL project you just have to go and get you translations done, make a page for the project(If you don't know how to create one, you can always copy and paste the english version on your language and translate it there   )

To create a new page, go to the page of the project, edit it on the where says

Code: Select all

The Sword Art Online series is also available in the following languages:
*[[Sword_Art_Online_BE|Nederlands (Dutch)]]
*[[Sword_Art_Online_Bikol|Bikolano]]
*[[Sword_Art_Online ~Lithuanian~|Lietuvių (Lithuanian)]]
*[[Sword Art Online Hungarian Version|Magyar (Hungarian)]]
PS I shortened it.

thenbellow that Languages add

Code: Select all

[[Sword_Art_Online_yourlanguage|Your Language]]
then save and click your page, it will open a new blank page, then copy and paste the page you have done and save it.

Regards

if u don't understand tell me.

PS Copy and paste the english version at notepad and translate it there. then copy and paste on the blank page

So now I started to edit my translation page, but I am facing two problems now.

First one is that Arabic Language should be written from right to left and I don't know where is the "Right to left text direction" tool in the text editor on the site, It will help a great deal in justifying Arabic words and making them easy to read. And I'm sorry because I never used this kind of editors before.

Second one is that how I make a linked word that when anyone click on it goes to its own page, like ( prologue - chapter 1 - chapter 2 -...) here: http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index ... Art_Online

I have also an inquiry: Where the PDFs should be posted to those who need to download them.

You mean to become like this? "Accel World

Code: Select all

[[Accel World|Accel World]]
Use the code above like this:

Code: Select all

*[[Sword Art Online:Volume 1 Prologue|Prologue]]
In your language will be something like this:

Code: Select all

*[[سوزوميا هاروهي-صور الجزء الأول|الصور المرفقة]]
taken from. Suzumia Haruhi Arabic and I think is the prologue
and regarding the other matter I don't know how to answer

sorry   :|

To make linked words, use this method for links to pages that are on the B-T wiki themselves.

Code: Select all

[[The Link of Page|The word you want to be displayed]]
For example,

Code: Select all

[[User:Rohan123|Click here to go to Rohan's userpage]
will show something like
Click here to go to Rohan's userpage

Remember, this method will work for pages which exist on the wiki only.

Thank you both, but actually like Rohan said, this method works only for the existing pages so what about making a new page in order to contain the Arabic translation or I just put all the chapters in the one main page of the Arabic version ?

I didn't mean the page must previously exist, just enter whatever link you want, then open it and you will be able to edit it to create a new page.
What I meant by 'pages only existing on wiki' was that the [[xxx|zzz]] method can't be used to link to pages outside of BT wiki, for example google.

EDIT: Go here for more info on all this stuff - Wiki Formatting Guide
