Well get ATLAS, JWPCE, Systran and one other dictionary of your preference and you can give it a shot. Specially because with JWPCE you can learn japanese while translating...

Still you do need to know basic grammar and read kana at least.

I am dropping this chapter just like whole translation business either. I just can't see it as "an open community" translation project anymore. Smidge204 pretty much convinced me that such thing is a myth. Well, good luck.

Ok, I'll manage but it's pretty sad that this project will somehow get allot slower than ever.

This may be just a temporary emotions though at this moment i feel way too pissed off to think straight. But as for now I really don't feel any motivation to keep on working with any of the projects. I am just too disappointed.

Well I feel kind of the same way as well. Too bad many translators have become lazy as well.. and I'm still learning the language. It might take me more than months to fully master this. Go and do something else that's allot more fun than this. Go back here and continue the project when you have your motivation again.

Yeah you've been doing this for quite a while now without a break DN. Go do some fun/stupid shit, be lazy, then start translating again whenever you feel like it. Baka-Tsuki isn't going anywhere. 8)

I might finish this chapter at least but i do not make promises. If I never go back to it heres what I have translated so far (it is right after the first part finishes):
Spoiler! :

Saito was lying on the floor. Towering above him stood roughly breathing Louise. It was the kitchen of the 'Charming Fairies' inn. Inn just opened, but it was already noisy inside. Louise, with her arms crossed, looked down at Saito.

“Tell me, big brother.”

Louise still called him big brother. In here, Saito pretended to be Louise’s elder brother. No one believed it, as everyone in the inn already knew that Louise was a noble, yet she continued calling him ‘Big Brother’ anyway. Really stubborn character.

“What, little sister?”

Saito asked in a feeble and strained, from Louise’s harsh beating, voice.

“What were you doing before I called you?”

“Cleaning dishes.”

“Don’t lie. You were looking away.”

“A little.”

“Not a little.”

Louise pointed inside of the inn.

“You were ogling that girl’s thighs, this girl’s breasts and that girl’s bottom…”

Then, Louise angrily pointed at Jessica.

“You were watching the valley of Jessica’s breasts too.”

“A little.”

“Hey, big brother...”

Louise stomped on Saito’s face with her feet.

“Yes?”

“Isn’t it bad for you not to look at me? Isn’t your master gathering information from drunkards? If your cute master is endangered, you ought to protect her, right?”

“I'm sorry.”

“Sorry is not enough. You looked at me only twice. Yet I counted, you looked at this girl and at that girl four times. You looked at Jessica’s cleavage twelve times. You looked away, ignoring your Master. I c-c-c-cannot p-p-permit that!”

“Hey, I wasn’t looking!”

Pardon me. I’m seeing Louise everyday. Her sleeping face too. It is love. Aah, master is cute. However, I want you to permit looking at other girl’s. It is man's nature. You cannot fight it even if looking away. Therefore, it is not necessary to get angry so much… Saito misunderstood her anger.

But, he would never loud such excuse. Saito learnt how to deal with Louise already.

“What if the moment when you look away I would be attacked by a strange man? Do you understand? You are willing to put me in such danger?

“No… Wouldn’t that be alright? Ugh”

“Why?”

“Master is not that appealing really. Tiny body has tiny popularity.”

Saito said what he was thinking. Louise spread her hands, sighed ‘Fuuh’, and started warming-up for another physical exercise.

“Really? I see. The dog can only be taught physically. Nnshotto.”

She went back to her vigor exercise.

While Louise was warming-up, Saito quietly slipped towards the back door. He had enough of the punishment a little while ago. Ten minutes. He needed to run away and have some rest.

Saito gripped Derflinger who was rolled up in a cloth. Due to the recent accident, he was always carrying Derflinger with him. Reluctantly, he decided to carry it around, even though he knew how obstructive it can be.

The moment when he opened the back door and stepped out into the alley, he saw a hooded woman running in short steps towards this direction.

Don! The woman knocked up against Saito, who just opened the door and fell on the ground. This made Saito flurried.

“S-sorry...Are you all right?”

The woman hid her face with hood and said in panic.

“…That, is there a 'Charming Fairies' inn somewhere around here?

“Eh? That’s here…”

Muttering Saito noticed that woman’s voice sounded familiar. The woman became aware of the same thing at the same time as well. Quietly, she lifted an edge of the hood and stole a quick glance at Saito's face.

“Princess!”

“Shh!” she said, covering his mouth. Henrietta, wrapped in the lobes of gray hood, hid herself behind Saito, to avoid to be seen from the Main Street.

“Search there!”

<img src="img/05_184.jpg">

Maybe she headed to Bourdonne Street!”

From the Main Street the rough voices of soldiers could be heard. Henrietta put the hood back on again.

“…Is there a place where I could hide?”

Henrietta looked so tiny.

“There is attic here where we live…”

“Please guide me there.”

**

Saito quietly brought Henrietta to the attic. She sat down on the bed and breathed out deeply.
Again, I might finish it off myself (after a some break and letting the steam off) but at this moment I am not really sure.

I've decided to start working on ZnT again. But I do not know if after I finish the chapter 3, volume 5, I will be doing more. But I will finish this one at least.

Man, what a relief! I've been away from Internet (and B-T in particular) due to vacation and RL issues, so it was quite shocking for me to read this thread yesterday...
Well, we here at B-T don't know your circumstances (neither we have to), and even if we did, you're the one who decides. So if you decide/have to give up translation, we don't have a right to complain, even if this means turning ZnT into yet another stalled project (moreover, with a countdown to removal, thanks to licensing) or into a project with progress in random volumes (which is almost the same, IMHO).
I know too well that enthusiasm alone is often insufficient to achieve a goal set, so here's a bit of motivation to help you overcome your difficulties...
- In spite of lack of expressed gratitude, rest assured your translations meet a demand. Your previews (even incomplete) have 1500-3500+ views each.
- Your continious contributions make yourself an example of a reliable and consistent translator. And yes, I mean "translator", not "previewer", since you seem to name translator "a translator" only in case (s)he is a native speaker of Chinese/Japanese. That's not always true.
- Your experience and knowledge of translation tools is very important for new translators, especially with your willing to help them. In fact, you've already said enough for somebody to write a "B-T Translators' Guide for Beginners"... Not to mention you're a source of ZnT material to translate.
- Your translations are to become base for non-English versions of ZnT soon. No progress on English ZnT means no progress on them in near future as well.

To be short, readers need you. Baka-Tsuki needs you. We're willing you the best in overcoming your problems and hope to see more of your works in the future.
And no matter what, thanks again for everything you've done for ZnT so far.

Arigatou gozaimashita. Labai ačiū.

I just recently found B-T and I pretty much made an account just to express my gratitude for the amount of work the translators put in for ZnT.

In other words; your amazing, thank you.

Well the part 2 is finally finished, meaning that 50 percent of the chapter is translated. And this is like two chapters in previous volumes already...

http://www.baka-tsuki.net/project/index ... Preview%7E

When Louise warms up it is meant in a funny way - that Louise is warming up before beating up Saito.

The part where Henrietta talks about snakes..It is meant metaphorically. She was talking about traitors, but Saito, being a simpleton he is, understood it literally.

I'm going to find the time to read through all that has been translated hopefully this weekend. But I know if I do I'll end up wanting more translated immediately. Ah the joys and torture of waiting. :P
