Nerevarine, well yeah. But I think Guiche;s iamge slightly improved after him making a statue for Saito..or more so making it without magic (just using magic to turn soil into clay).
Be the way mails seem to be the length units.. probably close to meters.
As for generals... Well it is not only about Saito... Louise too does great deeds its just taht they must stay incognito due to Henrietta's orders and due to own safety... Though yes it is annoying when ones like Guiche gets medals while Saito gets nothing and instead is treated as a coward.

Guiche making the statue both humbled him and gave Saito the small bit of recognition i wanted.
