Light novel dimensions so small

Maybe this has nothing to do with the forums, but I've just seen the real thing here in Tokyo. For me it's the greatest thing to be here, so don't misunderstand my post :p I was merely surprised at first that the novels are printed in such a small format. There is no imported haruhi in hungary, so I couldn't see it earlier. Still, it looks neat.

Just as a side note, not exactly connected with haruhi is that I expected more manga characters in the everyday life. I've never thought that the japanese are obsessed, but there is not even one ad with manga characters. Nothing on the "usual" tv stations either (except at really late times). In video games and a bookstore there was lots of them, but even there people didn't seem to care that much. Yeah, I sound like a noob. I know. It's just a bit strange how the world distorts everything that comes from japan into some anime headed nation of child porn. Either that, or my glasses distort it back to "normal".

Back on Haruhi (but the anime version), are people really willing to pay that much for a single episode on the last dvd? How good is the manga version? Should I buy it?

Maybe this was a bit much for sidenote, so move it to the appropriate section if there's any. o:)

It can be. I know of the place of the real OTAKUs, but I only gonna visit that tomorrow. I'm here since yesterday afternoon. I've seen Ginza and the "better" places of Shinjuku. I'll stay in Tokyo for the next 3 days and the last 3 days before I return home on the 26th, so I have enough time to see more I hope. Somebody, make them publish the latest haruhi novels before that! (Just a wish) Still it looks like there are fanatics and all the other "normal" people here, who may like manga, but not that much to make it their every day habbit to buy and read those.

Tokyo is sort of a world business center. I can't imagine that higher up business people would allow the anime industry to take over.
