To a point. Having been in the business more than thirty years now, I find myself in a not-uncommon position: I know tons of stuff they either don't teach anymore or nobody bothers to learn. So I find myself either teaching others how to do those things, or doing them myself because they don't feel the need to teach somebody else.

Learning Japanese is a way to stretch my mind in other directions.

Well, I think that it's great that you have time to spend on other languages. Also, the fact that you live on the same continent as me makes feel like that I'm not separate from the others XD.

Well, let's see, I'm from Michigan, and I presume you're in Canada somewhere. Otherwise, most everybody seems to be from Europe or south-west Asia (Singapore, Hong Kong).

I saw a good size crowd of otaku types yesterday at the University of Michigan, where there was a not-con yesterday (see http://www.umichanime.com/). Most were of the kind we would call lurkers here: listening and watching, reaping the benefits of those who translated or fansubbed. As far as I know, only one senior member of the group has participated on B-T at all. I didn't hang around too long: there seems to be some sort of built-in assumption around that if you're old enough to be their father, you must be there for the wrong reasons. I was getting some odd looks. :?

Did get to see the Bungaku Shoujo movie though. Not bad.

Im in cali. So your argument is flawed. Anyway, can we stay on topic in a global announcement -__-?

Sub names examples:

M.I.A used to mean no updates in 3-6 months
K.I.A. used to mean no updates in 6 months to a year?

Those subnames.

Great, I would like to watch in replay the hockey game against Michigan State outdoors.

For some reasons, the movie seems to have skipped a bit...well, I hope that they'll air the three SS where Konoha was in third grade...

California? You could knock Viz's door and ask them what they're doing with Shana.

Well, back on the topic, I'll use M.I.A. and K.I.A., OK. But I wonder if I could add somewhere "Inactive"

Actually, your Viz joke is really really possible. I just dont have transportation.

(I live about 45 mins north of SF. Traffic counts for about 20 mins of it.)

Well, even if you go to Viz, you might actually get your ass kicked by the guards protecting the building.

True Dat. But when I get time, Ill just see what Viz looks like in SF.

Who wants to make an automated page that tracks major updates to wiki projects?

You would need to find a web programmer familiar with how wiki pages work internally. I am a developer, but I live mostly in the depths of the machine code, rooting out bugs (hence the mole avatar). I could do something like what we need, but it would probably take a lot more time and effort than necessary, simply because I'm not a web application developer.

Speaking of programming, why do I have to answer questions when I edit the wiki?

As am I, but I only had to answer questions once after our big spam attack a few weeks ago, and since then it simply accepts me. Perhaps you are logging in from a new IP address? I really don't know what triggers the verification question.

by the way Chief, you might be outdated. but there's a new captcha. 2 patterns I've seen so far: what does baka-tsuki mainly translate? what is the name of this web site? the rest as I mentioned in that thread.
