@Monkey: Spam works in that the companies utilizing spam would release thousands of millions of bots (like Matrix) to scan through forum posts... webpages... and just basically anything to get viable email addresses, credit card numbers, and whatnot. However, not many of those bots can actually identify and click a button, so that one is a relatively safe measure of protection.
