Regarding comment about this sentence:

That was because it was not a sudden confession——both of them had already exchanged their feelings.

Question from Pikon: "Does it mean that the he did not believe the rejection because they had already exchanged their feelings? Which means that this confession was not sudden?"

Yes. Remember that Taichi had already confessed to Iori once in Volume 1, and she had already acknowledged it back then. In volume three he also does another semi-confession to her during the confrontation with Heartseed and she knew it too. Both cases are evidence that the current confession in the chapter wasn't a 'confession out of no where.' It wasn't like he was confessing to a girl who didn't know about his feelings. Which was why Taichi felt the rejection difficult to believe there. Hope that clarifies it.

I already knew the factual details about the acknowledgement of one another's feelings, but when the sentence is in the context:

"He didn't want to believe it.

That was because it was not a sudden confession——both of them had already exchanged their feelings before.

Didn't Nagase... have feelings for Yaegashi Taichi?"

The "That" implies that the reason why he didn't want to believe it was because he knew the confession wasn't sudden. I don't think he was saying the sentence to justify his disbelief, I think he said it because it showed something else he didn't understand. To show that this thought was just another point to Taichi, I was planning to change it to:

"The confession was not sudden—— both of them had already exchanged their feelings before."

How's that?
