To put it simply, [Maou Yuusha] is this type of story—

From the epic poems of Ancient Greece to the modern manga and games, people of different eras have used various types of media to create numerable adventure stories.

The climax of these stories always involves a battle between the side of good (Hero) against a great evil (Demon King), and in the end the hero would defeat the demon king, peace would be restored to the world and everyone would live happily ever after.

The punishment of evil by the good makes people feel good, and so people would always require this type of entertainment. That is undeniable.

However, when watching television, reading the newspaper, or searching through websites that provide video clips, have you ever thought of this!

– Reality is not that simple. The world cannot be saved by the victory of a single man. This book [Maou Yuusha] begins at the point where the climax of an adventure story should occur, the battle between the Hero and the Demon King. The protagonists of this work are a Demon King who is a little strange and a Hero who is very curious.

Not only does these two give up the traditional battle, but instead, join hands to directly challenge the complicated social structure that dictates that humans and demons must always fight each other.

This is too reckless right (smile). How can this be done… undoubtedly, everyone would think that. Come, please turn the page.

Until now no one has read this and at the same time a battle is more difficult than any adventure story ever experienced, is about to start[1].

–So …

It has been three years since Hero has started his journey.

The human army invaded the Demon World through the gate that connects the two worlds, and took over an important location; similarly, the demons also occupied a part of the human world.

With the South as the central point, the human world clashed with the demons in many small skirmishes. The damage and the chaos brought by the demons became a plague that haunts the dreams of man.

In this situation of desperation and chaos, came many reports of Hero and his party defeating the demons, giving the population of the Middle Continent great hope. But then, what of the Hero!

Perhaps he could not stand the slow progress of the war against the demons, or perhaps due to other reasons, he left his three brave companions… journeying alone towards the castle of the Demon King. He is like an arrow shot from a bow.

His course is straighter than a line drawn by a ruler.
