I really like this. It reads more like a western novel, I'm not sure if it is the skill of the translator or more the writing style of the author, but it is very good. I would love to see more if at all possible.

@Dohma The project does look interesting ^^
I wish you GoD speed Dohma

ps I noticed EnigmaticAxiom is using very interesting method of translating:
Spoiler! :
Machine Conversions
I'm getting this question more than I expected, so I'll put what I do up here (roughly).
Preparation
1. Find raw text or convert raw images to text. ABBYY FineReader does well for the image to text conversion.
2. Insert any line/page breaks that might be missing. I match this up with the raw novels so it's easy to find any mistakes I might notice in the future.
3. Change any common terminology/name to English with Find/Replace. It just makes things easier.
Conversion
Program: Translator Aggregator w/ Atlas, Google, and Excite always running. I will use other free machines (i.e. Bing/Babelfish) if I need them.
Process: Convert by line (i.e. block of text)
Convert by sentence if conversion by line is difficult
Convert by fragment if conversion by sentence is difficult
Mark anything I find difficult to understand, poorly converted, or difficult to convert
Read the converted chapter to check for inconsistencies (i.e. lines which were poorly converted, or re-converting if more information was derived later in the chapter/book
Read the converted novel for a general English edit.
Pacing: 2-3 pages/hr (Personal Translation followed by Machine Conversion), 5-20 pages/hr (Machine Conversion only, depending on the complexity of the novel)

If you are interested you can try adopting it, I have used TA for VNs in the past and some of them gave a rather good response.
I am not sure how much time exactly he spent on translating Madan no Ou to Vanadis, but the results are good with an incredebly fast pace ^^

@catchfraze:
Thanks, I actually enjoy reading western fantasy, so maybe it rubs off a bit. The author also has a bit more of a 'mature' style of writing, long sentences and detailed character development, so it already has quite a 'western fantasy' feel to it.

@loliDragon:
Spoiler! :
I don't know why it was a spoiler, but I guess I'll do the same :) .
I also use image-to-text conversion (http://www.ocr-extract.com), but mainly to get most of the difficult kanji so I don't have to use a dictionary all the time. Then I use Rikaichan, a plugin for Firefox, to get their meaning. And I use Translator Aggregator when I'm at a loss. I do hope I won't have to rely on that method in the near future, though, and just be able to translate it on the go.

I put in spoiler because I do not like to make my posts too long ^^
Your way of doing it, works well I guess. I am not sure how good the foxfire plugin is but in the end it should be just fine ^^

the plugin is the best...atleast for me. I don't have to use the TA for translations most of the time

I enjoyed reading the first chapter; it was well written. Perhaps it's to early to tell, but the main character and the world seem pretty interesting.

I would say that the break is in the fact that the story directly starts as a tragedy and goes on with it with out any 10 years in the future stuff.
It somehow gives the feeling that the plot of the story will develop rather fast... not sure if that is the case though.

Anyone else getting a man in the iron mask vibe? Wonder if he ends up being a twin or half brother to the prince or something.
You will eventually know :)

Just wanted to say I'm immensely enjoying the novel so far, and it's only 2 chapters in.
Spoiler! :
I like Orba's backstory of how he keeps rising up in ranks, then losing it, and how the mask seems to be molding his face is quite interesting.
