Utawarerumono
This is a rather old game, but just recently Soylations and Mirrormoon have released an English translation patch. I recommend you check it out if you liked the anime at all. I spent three days non-stop until I beat it. Very good.
BTW, If you do want to play it, you have to go get a torrent for the Japanese version first. Got mine off of Nyaatorrents.

Didn't like the anime. I gave it up. Just couldn't get into it.

Re: Utawarerumono
Well, at first I thought it was going to be a military campaign anime; like one about the generals and strategy and not the fighting.
Clearly, it didn't end like that, but it was certainly watchable.

That would be the English version of the anime...ben1234 wrote:I laughed at how it was almost called "Shadow Warrior Chronicles". XD
Besides...every anime that has been dubbed over sucks...
Japanese is the only way to go for anime...In my opinion.

Nah, ADV decided to keep the Japanese name a few months after they licensed it.

Re: Utawarerumono
I liked the anime. It is that at the end
I think that an OVA is a bit unnecessary in a way, but it might improve how it ended. I thought that the action and plot for the series was quite good. How does the game relate to the anime exactly?
Spoiler! :

It relates exactly to the anime. Also keep in mind it has a few H-scenes that completely caught me by surprise when I was playing it.

Your first AVG? It should actually be more surprising if you're playing a game like this and there AREN'T any H-scenes.Fushichou wrote:It relates exactly to the anime. Also keep in mind it has a few H-scenes that completely caught me by surprise when I was playing it.
Like Phoenix Wright. What's up with Phoenix Wright hanging those jubblies right in front of your face and not showing any? Or Trauma Centre! Stop with the saving lives and get with the humping already! I'm not curing cancer to hear you guys talk about how awesome everyone else is. Show the dirty!

It isn't like that upset me or anything, it's just that I was reading the story and all of the sudden he shoves this girl down and takes he clothes off...
Next thing I know he's screwing her.
But this is only the second Visual Game I have played, the first being Clannad.

Re: Utawarerumono
So I played this till the halfway point (I think) and I've got to say...
This is a pretty atypical Japanese visual novel game thing. It doesn't do anything new or introduce anything that hasn't been done before. The plot is simplistic, the logic used by the main character who is supposed to be a super genius is absurdly flawed (granted, developers should really stop creating super genius characters if they can't back it up), the characters are deep and unique as much as a boiled chicken is thought provoking, the combat AI is dumb, the combat mechanics is boring and all been-here-done-that. Well, if you've ever played any other Japanese visual novel game things, you're not going to see anything new here.
I don't particularly care for the completely linear story too. They give the illusion of choice, but it's not like it really matters since you can do every choice with no outcome on the story (from what I can tell).
The art is pretty though, if repetitive.
Another oddity is how the PS2 version has voice but the PC doesn't. Hrm... usually producers will attempt to milk a series for all its worth by releasing the voice version on the PC a year or so after the PS2 release.
I dunno. This game is good. It's not great or anything. It's slightly above average. If you've ever played any visual novel game things before, you're not going to see anything new here. Kinda sad that after decades of producing doujin games, the level of innovation is still so low. I wonder how they think? "Let's make the exact same thing people have seen countless times, further decrease our consumer base, and make no money before going bankrupt!"
Haha, sounds like the porn industry!
