Shikoku is brown, England blue. The island England is on is just called "Floating Island"... unless there is a special furigana reading ~~

It makes sense that they want to reach the good end again but I'm wondering why high school students. And another thing that lots of people were talking about was the fact that there were too many characters. But the thing is the book is 1000+ pgs long right? So it makes sense that you might have a lot of characters.

All politics is decided by the academies. Over a hundred years before the story, the Far East lost a war. To keep a semblance of sovereignty, they had to agree to a few rules. Their president and their chancellor are appointed by the Testament Union. Currently both roles are filled by Toori, who was chosen because of his uselessness. Sneaky Itsuki. Another rule is that they have to graduate with 17 or 18. Other academies have no such graduation rules, explaining why the president of KPA Italia can be such an old guy (the pope-"ossan").

(little add-on from the novel: there you'll find either Sakai or Musashi saying their current classes are the best in a long, long time)

imo its to mean that the young are the rightful heirs to that possible new world rather than the old.. you gotta give it to matsudaira motonobu for flipping an apocalyptic finger at the testament union.. 8)

The thing is that you have a lot of main/secondary characters, which could be heavy. Personally, I got used to something like 2-3 main, 2-3 secondary characters with the manga (mostly from the ol' series like TRC, Black Cat, xxxHolic and Inuyasha), but I guess this could also work. Though am not particularly fond of that.

They screwed up Yuri, and I kind of see Diomedea's approach on the anime for Campione! therefore I can say that they will not be staying true to the LN, they will only be following about 30% of the LN plot while rewriting and representing a lot of stuff and information, which in my opinion, seems a little rushed. I'm ok with the silver lion, in fact it looks awesome. Not much i can say about the Bull and Bird of Prey form, but what the poke was with the boar? He summons it (said to be 20 meters in size and god knows weighs how many tons) from his palm and throws it towards his target from his hand????? Plain Blasphemy!

Anybody really feeling good about Hagure Yuusha cuz I'm not. The idea is cool and all but for some reason it feels like itsuten to me. Like with itsuten it wasn't very entertaining to me because of the lack for depth it had.I'm not looking for something that won't give a clear answer since it's so deep but something that shows that it actually had some thought put into it.

Hagure Yuusha already has a bad original. Over the course of its first volume, the heroines self-destruct (should happen around ep3 or 4). Then there's plotholes en masse. ...do I still have to compare it to ItsuTen, which has a comparatively godlike original and "only" suffered from unbelievable adaption decay?

Finally, I got to try Campione anime out... Utter crap... Can't they just stick to the novel, which was really good?

Didn't bother to try Hagure Yuusha out. I think the original novel is not THAT bad, despite it having a lot of problems indeed, but still better written compared to some series out there, but from the content of the novel, I can plainly say there is no way the anime adaptation can have really good plots or ideas either... So I would give that up too.

Jinrui wa Suitei is following the novel up to episode 2 so far, no sure about future episodes, but the way they do it is weak as an anime. At least they tried their best, I commend them on it, but overall, just switch off your brain if you want to watch this series.

The only one that really seems to interest me is Dog Days 2. Man, its refreshing after seeing so many epic fails in adaptations!
God!!
You need not forgive me.
For those I love,
The violence brought about by sinful men
Shall now be used once more.
If you were created to save this world,
If there is a single shred of hope left for the future of mankind,
I am very sorry, but, please begone!

Well, with a lot of scenes cut, Campione somewhat lost its charm. First ep was fine since I didn't really know what was in third volume but this time around... Is there really such a need in rushing things?
I liked the scene with Athena. I liked Amakasu mindscrewing Godou. I liked a school scene. I didn't like the execution of the rest of the episode.

Now, waiting for Tari Tari, SAO and Kokoro Connect.
Kadi - hero we don't deserve.
Honorable mention for moderating and translating Campione, editing Gekkou and Hakomari.
O White Knight standing sadly amidst hordes of filthy plebs, return to us, please.

Hagure Yuusha could be compared to Daimaou, though the latter one spikes way more interest. I can't compare with Itsuten though, since I never saw the anime for it and the LN didn't catch my interest as much as Denyuuden or others enough that I read ahead in Chinese.

Reminds me that just watched SAO 2. It stays at the top of my list, and waaaaaayyyy above my second favourite, Hyouka.

KoiSen's generic harem + (corrupt) politics,
NakaImo is just weird,
Hagure Yuusha's both loved and hated,
BokuH is Shana+TWGOK+HS DxD :? ,
Campione!'s an original,
Dog Days' is mindless fun,
SAO is good (animation quality's expected to go south with each ep though :? ),
Kokoro Connect is interesting, 8)
Horizon II is lolz for more Aoi-trolling

whatever happened to the best-summer-season atmosphere?? :? also, i usually have the first ep of any title under me before sancom ups a post, but i guess its a first. ebiten's nowhere to be seen..? :?

Sometimes I wonder if reading the LN ruins our visual experience with the anime adaptions themselves. This is not to pan either presentation, but because our expectations of the authentic material is set at a certain level that is fundamentally different from the anime.

For example, SAO 2...
Spoiler! :
Goes into some back story about the early days of the SAO timeline, before the original Volume 1 that starts at Floor 74. This is the first step of the crusade, the first obstacle, the first boss that snuffed out players' lives.

And yes, the animation dipped a bit during the boss fight, but I wonder if it was intentional to make the pacing seem more frantic.
I watched the episode and enjoyed it, while still knowing in the back of my head that this is not how it turned out in the LN. I think that the episode was an excellent portrayal of the SAO universe that would make sense to both veterans and newcomers to the series, without sacrificing too much detail. However, that does bring me back to the original point: Is too much knowledge of the source material a bad thing? I mean, it would be one thing if someone read the LN and eagerly awaited the animation of a scene like Fate/Zero's Ionian Heteirio, only to find out that it wasn't animated. (Our opinions on what is animation-worthy/required may vary.) I just feel that to judge an animation's worth on the merits of the LN to be like comparing apples and oranges.
No angel ever descended from the heavens with our sound and fury.

Drop by here if you have any questions regarding upcoming chapter progression/what series I am working on.

The thing is that SAO followed the chronological order and personally, it does not bother me. If Campione had volume 3 animated before the first, I'd still be ok with it (by animated, I meant without omitting 3/4 of the things.

The thing is when you know too much of the LN or the original manga, you could decide simply that you're too lazy to wath it. Happened with Sankarea, personally. I mean, I love it, but I just don't feel like following it. Same with Boku wa H.

Campione's an original, not relating it to the LN. And i have the same thought, where's my ebi-ten fix this summer? and where's Arve rezzle or whatever it's called? still waiting for those 2, i can't even find the raws of ebi-ten
